I don’t know why but lately I feel like I’m looking at Big Al from a physicality style standpoint. Both are amazing athletes. Tyrese doesn’t have the jumper Horford has and it’s too late in the season and not his game at this point but I believe if he had another year and worked hard on his shot in the offseason, he could develop shots outside of the little tear drop and post game. Who knows, maybe if he gets a shot at the next level his game will evolve in that regard. I think he is the key to how far this team goes. Him and Alex are the most physical guys we have (Walter too).

    Al >> Tyree.

That is not saying that Tyree isn't a good player but Al is an outstanding NBA player and to my mind the best of the 04's.

Well yeah duh. I wasn’t trying to say he was better than Al. I’m just saying parts of his game and his physicality remind me of Horford. Closest player we’ve had to Al since his days here.

Speights was too finesse. Although his shot was obviously more on par with Al’s.

Speights also had a low motor. Not an effort guy.

Yes, I’ve thought this for awhile. Their athleticism and willingness/ability to bang in the post are similar.

That one handed dunk last night reminded me of Al’s when he did the shimmy..

Epic dunk worthy of Horford comparison.

I wish we had another year of TS!

Al is the best interior defender we've ever had, imo. Great help defender too and super high defensive IQ. I don't think their defensive games are similar, but on offense I think you're right

Al was a better passer out of the double team but TS had a real nice cross court pass for an open 3 out of a double team that reminded me of AL against OSU in the championship game.

I've hired Macklin to teach Handlogten that hook shot after the season.

Also not the sharpest knife in the box. He lived with friends (fsu grads) of my boss in St Pete and I heard stories.

I would compare Tyrese Samuels to Udonis Haslem.
I believe that Samuels had recently tied Haslem for the UF record for most double-doubles in a season?

    11 double-doubles!

Tyrese Samuel 2023-24 Stats per Game - NCAAM - ESPN

Tyrese Samuels is the type of player that "doesn't always give you what you want" (i.e, missed FT's the other night) but "gives you what you need!" (ie, helps your team get the win).

What a great transfer by Todd Golden; both Samuels & Pullin are incredible experienced additions. I mean add in Walter Clayton and all of the rest of the players he recruited. This team has been really fun to watch when they are on.

Samuels, an experienced power player with limited hops) is probably the best offensive Big I've seen at Florida but it is prob ably close with David Lee who was more skilled and Haslem who was also terrific. Others have been better defensively. Pat Young was the most high energy guy I've seen. Horford was better defensively and might rate best overall. Bonner the best stretch 3. Don't forget Joakim in the discussion. Had he left the year before he won his second natty he may have been the top pick in the entire draft.
