to hit the glass. And we dominated the boards in the second half. Now, I’m glad he got after them. But moving forward, our bigs shouldn’t have to be yelled at by our coach to hit the glass. Come on guys. But great job by Todd recognizing this, and letting them know it. It paid off!
+16 on the boards after hardly getting any in the first half. And one of the biggest plays in the game was Richards offensive board and put back with 1:05 remaining to go up 5.
Three things happened in the second half, all to our favor. Golden did challenge them for sure. Them playing last night and us being fresh, we started to wear them down in the second half. And then all the fouls on their bigs from us pounding it in to TS meant they couldn’t be as aggressive on the boards. But all those were earned advantages.
If only we could get Handy to play with the same intensity and energy as Haugh and Condon. How he is a starter is just beyond comprehension. Condon is so much better.
I said something similar, while I don't believe is changing up the starting 5 this late, I do see Condon being more aggressive when he's out there. It's seems like certain teams, Micah has had the edge, scored and rebounded early, but there are other games where he's been a complete no show scoring. He's not a good enough defender to score 0 pts and make an impact. Condon is growing up right in front of us. If we get the Condon we got last night, he's clearly our best option in crunch time.
You sound like me telling my kids I shouldn’t have to yell at them to clean up their rooms. Come on guys, indeed!
Could you imagine Will Richard with point guard level dribbling skills? He would be a monster… possibly a lottery pick.
if not, then I hope he's making the basket and only missing the "and one" and not 2 shots, which is basically a TO
Allow Handlogten to grow. He often looks like a yute out there. He will mature and be a beast. We'll have 3 or 4 beasts that are going to pound people next year.
Handlogten is the best rebounder in the SEC per minutes played, and it's not even close. That's why he's the starter.
But that is all he is bringing to the table right now. He fouls too much, can't make free throws, and doesn't defend at the level of Condon or Haugh. He's only a sophomore, so I'm not dogging on him, and I'm glad to have him in team. They both get 20 minutes per game, so maybe it doesn't matter.
