No, it's that you put roadblocks up purposely for them and then turn around and say "what? Don't know what you're talking about. It's the liberals who support you because they don't think you can do it on your own." When in fact, it is the liberals who support them in trying to take down the very roadblocks you put up. What's worse is you act the victim when confronted.

Exactly. If he's going to go there, let's start with the year 1958, 105 years after UF was founded. A pretty big 105 year roadblock to most, but they don't want to talk about that as being a problem. They gloss over it and bring up liberals thinking minorities aren't "good enough to succeed on their own." But you know, that 105 years, oops we didn't mean to erect that roadblock, sorry! You'll be fine....
1958 is being quite generous. UF undergrad didn't admit Black students until 1962, and even then, it barely admitted any Black students (seven). Those students endured hell. Only two graduated. The numbers remained low for much of the 1960s (only 103 Black students in 1968). In 1970, the numbers were a tad better at 340 Black students, which was still quite low, but there were only 3 total Black professors. All this to say, UF didn't suddenly stop favoring white people because the courts forced it to integrate. It's also worth noting that currently, less than 6% of UF students are Black, while roughly 17% of Floridians are Black. The percentage of Black students at UF has been steadily declining for years. But hey, I'm sure it's just because of "merit." Of course, this thread isn't about affirmative action or admissions. It's about DEI, as much as certain folks like to conflate the two.
Considering the thread was about UF and he is suggesting there are all these roadblocks it all meshes together. Just because he went with the tale that roadblocks are there and the liberals are trying to take them down schitck isn’t really off topic. Threads weave and wander and almost never avoid the theme left is bad/good right is bad/good. If that’s the new standard then 2/3rds of the posts on any thread are off topic. Curious what % of black students apply to UF? A lower rate of black students graduate HS in Florida so that makes a smaller pool of applicants right off the bat. Further more fewer blacks go to college in Florida than whites, that’s not just a UF issues(and there are quite a few HBC schools here to help boost that number). Per the last census the population of blacks in Florida is 15% not 17%. DEI doesn’t have anything to do with improving the numbers of minorities going to school at UF? I thought that was part of the reason UF needed a more diverse staff to help draw more minorities to UF, that’s been suggested here many times.

How is bringing up the hypocrisy of MAGA mouthing “meritocracy” when it inserts LARA TRUMP as the Republican Party co-chair, “unrelated to the topic” of DEI?!?! And, as someone so deeply opposed to DEI, where’s your angst and ire at your party for engaging in blatant nepotism?!?! If you’re for a complete meritocracy, show your anger at your leadership flaunting their disregard and disrespect to people like you who demand such principled hiring practices. And as for your analogy of Hillary holding office, it’s off-point. She was hired by the voters to hold her office, not by her husband. (And I’m not a Hilary fan, either. And finally, for those in the back rows, the bitching about DEI because of the demand for meritocracy is, well, ironic since the “E” stands for equity, meaning meritocracy in opportunity.
