Well it is now obvious that your thoughts of my thinking an opinions match mine of yours! It was a rebuttal to grumpy old yelling man that stated it is all the R's fault we have a southern border as it is. I watched it live and then read the transcript and never once thought or put blame on Biden for this incident. I took it as this is the kind of incidents we can expect when dealing with the criminal groups of Mexico. Hell, I knew from the story it didn't happen in the US. So who has critical thinking issues?

Conservatives have adopted all the language and rhetorical moves of woke college freshmen where criticism is "bullying." This is a literal member of the government people, not some kid being shoved in a locker.

If you actually watched her performative response to Biden's SOTU address it was blatantly obvious that she was implying that the incident took place in the United States during the Biden Administration and that Biden was responsible for barbaric treatment of the young woman by the members of the cartel. Her intent was absolutely clear even if she didn't explicitly blame Biden. She should have apologized for using a false and misleading story but like the leader of the Cult of which she is a member she will never apologize for anything.

Under Donald Trump the government murdered its own people. It’s own people!*

We wont stand for it in a country like America.

*Murders took place in Russia by the Russian government and some may have happened under Obama.

The amount of mental gymnastics people go thru to defend what she did is olympic level.
As for MAGA, she gets bonus points for lying and distorting so there is zero incentive to apologize.

Trump has trained them for this.

Look how excited they get about the Fani Willis hearing as if it exonerates Trump trying to illegally get an election win in Georgia somehow.

They are like FSU fans thinking the "Swindle in the Swamp" was a legit Nole win.

So, Biden's SOTU was completely factual, and you are holding him to the same accountability you are Britt? Should Biden apologies to the young lady and family he mispronounced her name? He apologized to her murderer for calling him illegal.

LOL - her lies are OK because Biden mispronounced something ? :)

At some point, you Trumppublicans are going to have to realize that when you defend un-American, lying criminals....at the very best it makes you the defenders of, and shills for, un-American, lying criminals.

At some point, you're going to have to look inward.

No not at all. I just don't believe she lied. I believe she crafted her speech, like any other politician, to not tell falsehoods, but intended to cause people to want to secure the border so incidents as described can be reduced, diminished or even eradicated. In my opinion she has a long way to go to be ascended to POTUS potential, but then in my opinion, and the opinion of her own congressional district, we have a VP now that is a long way from POTUS potential.

Well she has a really long way to go now ... the SOTU rebuttal is the kiss of death for Republican politicians. She Bobby Jindal'd herself, and really has nothing to do with the content of her speech.

This thread is the last 8 years in a nutshell.
Say 100 crazy inaccurate things, but turn yourself into a victim over how it’s covered and pounce if a single mistake is made by the other side in doing so, drawing a moral equivalency essentially between j-walking (the one mistake) and grand theft auto(the hearings of crazy that started it all).
It’s not even worth pointing it out or debating it any longer, it never changes.

If anyone wants to see an absolutely brilliant breakdown of Britt’s performance, watch John Stewart’s The Daily Show from this past Monday. He was brilliant. ( This is the same John Stewart that was hyper-critical of Biden in his first shiw back, so he tries to be an equal opportunity slayer)

He mocked Biden again on Monday too. But he wasn’t the primary target this week.

He hit the SOTU address. He hit Biden and lots of others. But the Britt coverage was absolutely brilliant, IMO

Nothing like it’s become. Crazy and spiteful has become normalized in a way few could have even imagined a decade ago.
I always think about that woman at Mcain rally that McCain had to correct. This was less than 20 years ago and it’s another universe from today.

Heck even Romney on Election Day 2012, barely a decade ago.

Do you really think mispronouncing someone's first name is the equivalent to what is very close to the total fabrication of a story? While the victim described by Katie Britt was subject to unthinkable atrocities by members of a Mexican cartel, the acts occurred during the administration of President George W. Bush, not Joe Biden as Britt strongly implied and took place in Mexico not in the US by criminals who had illegally crossed border as Britt also implied. While I do not think that Biden should have apologized for using the term "illegal" he wasn't apologizing to the murderer of Laken Reilly, he was apologizing to advocates for migrants who find the term offensive because it focuses on the person rather than the act.
