The line drive she caught was a good play. She stretched up, but her feet never left the ground.

Hey, anyone know if everything is OK with Smiley? Tonight was the first game in forever that he wasn't present leading the YMCA cheer.

Beaver got her tonight. Uga is already a tough team but they are probably going to sweep bama.

FSU is bad this season. I don’t see them significantly improving.

Gators don't play Ole Miss, Auburn, Tennessee & Arkansas during the regular season. We host Kentucky, LSU, South Carolina & Texas A&M and still have road series at Mississippi State, Missouri & Georgia. Anybody want to predict our conference record. I'll guess 16-8.

Beaver got hurt tonight in the game against FSU. Apparently, while making a tag at home, she slipped and jammed her golved hand. She left in tears, but reportedly was in the dugout with her hand bandaged up. Won't know how serious until this weekend.

All injuries are bad but it seems like this year there have been more major ones to big names already than we normally see all year. Bama in a very abd spot if she can't go. Hate it for her also if it's significant.

I think we'd be in good shape to come our with that record really. I could see us going either above or below that easily. As long as we perform well in May we will be fine. I'd really like to get that LSU win the way they are looking. Kentucky and Missouri are always toss up for some reason. And as always.... hate playing UGA. Anything and everything seems to happen and without a shadow of a doubt we get to hear about the 2016 super with a replay.

Yep. Took a couple replays to figure out what happened but I think she jammed her glove hand on the runner's knee while trying to make a tag at home after a wild pitch.

I read on another board that going into the Alabama series last weekend, Florida was hitting under .200 against P5 opponents. I haven't gone back and done the claculations, but that's interesting if true.

Is it that bad? I thought TV mentioned our P5 average at one point, but didn't recall it was that bad. Obviously, our playing a Spring schedule chock full of puff teams helps our overall average.

That said, I know CTW gets a lot of flack from this board from scheduling easy Spring games and attending the tournament at UCF each year (helping out his buddy) rather than the much better competition at Clearwater, but I think its a good thing.

In addition to the physical, preparation of the mental aspect is also important. There's a "feel good" aspect to crushing opponents and smashing homers. That has to go a long way for building team comradery and a happy locker room.

On national TV, they talk about Player X leading the league in some stat or our pitching staff having an ERA of X or the team leading the nation in run rules. Yeah, we've kinda cook the books with the puff opponents to get those stats, but the players (and their friends) surely hear what's being said in the media and it has to be an ego boost.

The SEC schedule will tell what were really made of. Although I'm in the minority, I think CTW does a good job of building confidence, ego, and setting expectations through the Spring schedule he picks. Just my humble opinion.

With a young team like this one, I like the easier start to help them adjust to the speed of the game. With a more mature group, a tougher start could be beneficial because they’ll be battle tested going into sec play. Overall, our SEC slate is pretty much always going to make our strength of schedule tough enough. If you win all of your sec series, you’re going to be in good shape come tourney time no matter what happens in the pre conference season.

Looks to me like it's close, I have them at .202.....but it's only 5 games and 2 of them really bring it down Oregon St 3-22 and Okla St 3-23). Interestingly in most of those games UF outhit the opponent, the 2nd Mich game they edged us 10 hits to 7.
Only hit 237 vs Bama and that's buoyed by a run rule game 2. In games 1 and 3 combined UF only hit .163

Good pitching clearly beats good hitting

Has been true for a long time. Annoying part of it to me is that it's not just florida that has a lower avg against better pitching... it's every team but for some reason the storyline is about florida. And as said above.... in those tough game FL outhit the opponent just didn't get the timely hit.

TW hit a homerun when he got Jocelyn. If she isn't one of the top two catcher's in the country, there is no tea in China. I also think, which means nothing by the way that TW is going to have some recruiting problems for a while. When you combine the seven current freshman with next year's recruiting class, it is going to be an almost impossible lineup to break into for a couple years.

Even though I'm usually wrong, I like to make predictions. I predict when Jocelyn is a senior, the Gators will win the WCWS and have the highest winning percentage in the history of the program.

I agree, assuming all players stay and not hit the portal because of playing time. In today’s world, jumping ship for supposedly greener pastures is the norm.

Nice thing is, most of the roster is getting quality innings. Wilkie and Goelz have lost innings as seniors, but everyone else seems to be in the mix and have bright futures
