I heard an interview on the radio up here years ago where they were talking about all the places they import their hops from and I immediately wanted to start a local hops growing operation. Looked into it a bit, but never got momentum. There are now several operations still scaling up. Locally sourced sells

My son-in-law tried growing hops on his family‘s land, but they didn’t turn out so well.

Back in the 80s when I lived in California I knew a girl who was from Montana, where her family grew hops. They lived and died by the Anheuser-Busch quality control agent. If the agent accepted their hops, they made a good living that year. If the agent did not accept their hops, it was sold for cattle feed at a much lower price.

Well, y'all were not kidding around. This arrived today. Thanks doc! I'll let ya know what I think when I try some this weekend. BTW - why do the Alchemist cans say "Drink from the can"? Is that a real suggestion?

Enjoy! I just found out like an hour ago that my daughter lives with the Outer Range brewer.

Real suggestion. Pouring the beer into a glass adds a lot of oxygen to the mix and changes the flavor profile.

You should consider marrying her off to the brewer like some 16th century arranged feudal marriage and get some Outer Range hookup.

I've scaled back my consumption to near zero and have been out of the game for a long while. I perused the beer section at total wine a few weeks ago picking up some cerveza for my wife and my mind was blown. There are beers I could only wish to get in trade 10 years ago gathering dust on the shelf. Whole row of Maine brewing. Toppling Goliath pseudo sue??? I had to give a couple a try. Really great beers.

I ran into a buddy who was a big trader, recently. He said he quit trading altogether because the local breweries here in Pensacola are as good as anything he can get in the country now. Good to hear.

Oh, and heady topper is the stuff!

Yeah, I see stuff I would have hoarded years ago, and don't even get excited about it, I just think to myself "well I can get this anytime." Now if only that would happen with Pappy bourbon and Cantillon, where I could just get some whenever I felt like it.

Surgeon general has been against cigarettes for decades. I got it now they are going to triple the alcohol taxes.

I get that we drink alcohol privately and harm no one but ourselves. I think drunk driving is where a private activity becomes a public concern.

Looking back at the origins of this thread, it's still pretty funny. The federal government has been making health and dietary suggestions for decades. We've had a National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism since 1970.
But Fox News actually convinced people that Biden had just appointed an 'alcohol czar' who was about to limit how much beer Americans were allowed to drink.

So, I guess you are assuming either my daughter is gay or the brewer is male? Whereas wgb is just old school sexist. ;) 1 of Ft. Collins most celebrated brewers is a woman...I followed stuff across 3 diff breweries. Literally celebrated. On her 2nd stop (that I know of) she concocted Sad Panda, 1 of the town's most revered beers. Pandamonuim sells out every year.

    Pandamonium

It is a dude that my daughter lives with as 1 of her 6 roomies. She does not like him. He told her he would initiate voting her out if she drank (she's 19) & on the third day she was there (moved in 3/1) it snowed 10", my daughter dug her car out to go to work & he said not so fast & pointed out her share of the driveway which took another hr.
