yeaaaahhh uh no. I doubt Saban retired on a whim without plenty of heads up to give the admin pleeeeeeeeeenty of time to suss out their next step options, unlike Spurrs decision to leave for the NFL. I Highly doubt this was a reactionary panic grab. Especially since it was made so quickly after Saban retired. #1 job opportunity in all of football, college or otherwise. I doubt they were turned down to stay in tally so norell could continue building what he was building, which was only really successful for a year so far and despite that success was left Out of the CFP because they don’t play in a real conference. enjoy the raise norvell, peddle that “thanks but naw thanks” $#!+ elsewhere.
You would be one of the few. That kind of hire would light a buzz we haven’t had around here since 2004.
I would think not. Look at the uproar from TAMU fans over Mark Stoops who they thought was beneath them.
People want kiffin because he runs productive offenses and has a few 10 win seasons but for as long as he has been coaching he hasn't had many signature wins. He routinely gets blown out against top teams and beats up on the weaklings. This isn't a Napier comparison. He's a better gameday coach Than Napier but he has way more experience as well. Just saying that people's frustration with our coaching situation has made people view kiffin to be better than his record has shown.
To each his own. Kiffin is a jerk. Yes, he's a pretty good offensive mind, but, he would make a bad HC here. He'd be in trouble in a year.
Kind of doubt that. At any rate, I’ll bet winning would cure much of that. When you win, you get to do all kinds of silly stuff people won’t question. Two O-Linemen coaches? Sure. A Special Teams Coordinator who “coaches” from home on gameday? Sure. Free hand to bang as many graduate students as you want under the alias Joey Freshwater? Sure.
Yes. Notwithstanding that I don't see Kiffin at UF, because he has a better gig at Ole Miss, why would he deserve more scrutiny at UF than our current coach? We have the perception that our administration doesn't care about football success but considers our team's academic standing paramount, Would that mean they accept a coach that appears incompetent and challenged to manage his staff and games if the team's academic standing is at the top of the SEC? Kiffin has made some competitive moves, hiring a new DC, excelling in the portal, and has a specific place on his staff for a STs coordinator. As far as we can tell, he's running a modern and clean program. I doubt we can afford him now anyway, without some pain in our athletic department finances.
No doubt that the more coaches win, the less their minor quirks control their future. I'll agree with you on that. But, I don't buy it that there would be less scrutiny at Florida than in Mississippi. We're going to have to agree to disagree on that one.
As long as the money is right he might but he probably has options if he has a good year. Last year he got boat raced by Georgia. He needs to improve on last season will all the portal players he got.
