I just watched Biden speak live for an hour and half and he didn't look like someone "losing it". Biden hasn't been a great speaker his whole life, but he wasn't babbling with false info like you'd hear at a Trump rally. Trump seems to have spells where he think's it 2016 again and Obama is president, which is exactly the type of thing I saw with my relatives with dementia, their brains switching back and forth between now and past memories.... Trump's mental state is way more worrisome than Biden.

The actual transcript of Hur's interview of Biden has been released and at least two newspapers, the Wall Street Journal and the Washington Post, have backed down from their characterizations regarding Biden's mental health. The problem is the transcript largely doesn't support Hur's report.

Hur is a political hack who wants to work for Trump. Shame on Garland for appointing him.

Shame on everyone out there saying that Joe couldn't remember when Beau died. He recalled it instantly when asked.

It's really getting tiresome to hear Republicans whine and complain about how everything is rigged, unfair, or weaponized against them when the reality is that the Democrats play by the rules and Republicans play dirty.

Special Counsel Mueller to investigate Trump? Republican

Special Counsel Smith to investigate Trump? Republican

Special Counsel Hur to investigate Biden? Republican

Mueller report? Completely mischaracterzied by Barr before releasing the report

Hur report? Garland let's him release his report as is which now we're learning mischaracterized Biden's mental state based on the transcript.

So spare me the crying and belly aching about how unfair the Democrats are being toward Trump. I have no doubt if Trump wins that Republicans will use their new power under the guise of "turnabout is fair play" but I'm still happy to support the party that acts with integrity even knowing the other side wouldn't do the same if the shoe were on the other foot.

So what is Hur going to do for Trump? He's not a criminal defense lawyer.

I suppose that’s the point though Trump can’t get qualified lawyers…

    @l_boy

You were pretty front and center critical of Biden based on this report. What is your current stance?

I haven’t dug into a lot but what I am hearing and reading is Hur really mischaracterized the conversations and failed to provide needed context. I don’t know if his motivations were purely political, or if what he was doing was trying to build up support for his decision not to prosecute (or try to placate fellow republicans by bait and switching them from whether he is guilty to instead he is old and feeble).

Whatever the case it doesn’t reflect well on Hur.

I still feel Biden is too old and I’d prefer someone else - and while an 80 year old Biden seems fully compentent I’m not confident an 85 year old Biden will be.

Having said that he did pretty well in his SOTU speech and whatever his condition he is infinitely better than Trump. I’ve accepted that he is the nominee and that’s not going to change.

I wonder how many of you making comments actually watched the hearing or went to your website of choice and read their take? I watched up until they broke for voting, about the first three hours or so, then I watched the take from FoxNews, CNN, MSNBC last night. All I can tell you is that the coverage from both side of the networks is very slanted to make their point. Hur was very lawyerly, but I think tried to answer all the questions. Bottom line?
Biden had possession of classified documents he shouldn't have had, Biden did not have these docs secured, Biden was very corporative, Biden brought up his son death, not the lawyers, evidence of wrongdoing but felt not sure it could be proved to a jury, Biden had issues of recall, the report was not an exoneration or a conviction. From what I saw both sides were frustrated with the answers Hur gave, he wouldn't confirm provable guilt or exoneration.
Just my take, enough for both sides to run with their interpretations. IMO
Another take that may not mean anything, but was very noticeable, it appeared most of the R's were asking questions and having a conversation not from a script, where nearly all the D's
read statements then questions from a written script in front of them.
It would be wise for all of us to try and source our take from the actual hearing rather than what some talking head from the side of your choice tells you what to think.

No one on the left has any issues with his fact finding. It was a fine summary. It was the cheap ass character assassination that Hur employed that was proved bull shit with the transcripts of the interviews. He was scared of looking like a weak right winger not pushing for charges so he though he would get points for calling the president old and forgetful. Just ridiculous if you saw anything else.

    Did you read the transcripts?
Should he have brought charges? There was plenty of evidence that he could have and maybe should have.
Just ridiculous if you did not see that.

Except he did get the year wrong. That really doesn't bother me though. He did claim that he remembers being angry when they asked him if he remembered when his son died even though he was the one that brought it up. The reason Biden brought it up is because he said his son was deployed or dying when he left office.
