That is the fundamental flaw. While it is pretty easy for most to see that trump only cares about trump, MAGA nation somehow believes this narcissistic millionaire cares about them.
He lost last time and it just seemed to energize them. What makes you think they’ll believe he lost fairly this time?
And yet many “Normie” Republicans are calling it quits and retiring or being primaried out of office. I wonder where the new normal Republican leaders will come from - the bench seems to be heavily MAGA or MAGA adjacent. I fear it will be around for sometime after trump descends to his just reward.
The GOP spent multiple decades trying to do Reagan over and over and endlessly talking about him like a God, but you think the Trumpy GOP will die overnight
The American system of government doesnt trust democracy, so its a perfect situation for them really. You have to credit them with properly understanding how power and politics in America works. The president is basically a king (with a big ole empire at his disposal)! Might as well act like one, right?
The sad truth is millions of Americans share the same sentiment as at least one of our posters on here: they would be ok with an Orban being in charge here.
All I can say is thank goodness for MAGA and its stance in meritocracy in full throated opposition to the principles of DEI. I feel much more comfortable now that Lara Trump, with her storied career, is co-leading the Party.
None of this new. Rs have been manipulating the southern white redneck since the southern strategy. Why will it stop working?
If Reagan ran today, he would be considered a flaming libtard by the MAGA nation. Narrow minded people on here think I am a libbie because I hate trump.
Today's gop would brand Reagan a RINO. Not even the same party he led. Hard to imagine him kissing the orange god's ass, which by itself is enough to warrant the RINO tag these days.
Trump is basically Reagan 2.0. Maybe people think of him fondly because he had a Democratic congress and somewhat liberal judiciary to deal with and constrain him on a few policy matters. But there hasnt been a more disastrous presidency for the US than Reagan's. It set the trajectory we live in now. And in a couple decades, a lot of people will say the same as this about Trump: "Trump would be a lib today compared to President Boebert." Just seeing people here look back at GWB fondly as a "patriotic American" vs Trump more or less solidifies that I will be right.
