This guy can coach, and I gotta think he is headed somewhere after season. He has Samford back in the tourney for first time in 23 years; 29-5 and one of the best mid majors in the country. He will surely get this third SoCon COY award in 4 years! And no doubt he gets Tampa’s endorsement… not only endured, but improved his team following the loss of Ques! Now that’s something! Kidding aside, Bucky Ball is legit. I’ll be very curious as to who gives this guy a look.
Another coach that should get some praise is South Florida Bulls coach Amir Abdur-Rahim. He has turned that team around in his first year and they won the regular season conference championship over FAU.
My guess is that Samford would have won the Southern Conference tournament last year too if Ques had been healthy. Bucky, IMO, is one of the best coaches in America and has all of the attributes I look for in a coach. He plays his roster. No one on the team plays 26 minutes per game or more. The ball flies all over the place on offense. He pressures the ball on defense. His coaching is very similar to Pitino’s. Bucky took a moribund program and they went 15-3 in conference each of the last 2 years. They could be a dangerous team in the first round of the tournament.
