I had never heard of Andrew Armstrong so I looked him up and he's not one of their three weekend starters. He's pitched just 4.2 innings this season. It certainly doesn't sound like they're throwing their best guy at us. I like our chances.
Don’t know what their best arms are just know he is an experienced LHP who led the team in innings out of the pen last year. The good is UF has seen multiple weekend starters who throw left. Really excited about this week of baseball. Should be great test and a measuring stick. Go Gators
According to the Circus, he used to be a pretty good RHP in high school (thanks @gtj31). Must have been a tough transition. Andrew Armstrong - 2024 - Baseball - Florida State University Go GATORS! ,WESGATORS
Wes I seen his bio states RHP But his picture states LHP. I really don’t know what he throws.. It is a FSU site so confusion is probably parallel with academics.
As annoyed as I have been over losses, especially the SMC loss, I'm not in a panic and I doubt Sully is- although he probably is more annoyed than I. Going with a frosh against the noles is what he typically does and I like the choice of Philpott. The purpose- for UF- of midweek games is to develop young players to be ready to be called on at critical moments in SEC or postseason games. Think Fisher against TxTech. I do expect to see Neely because he likely would benefit from the work, but I hope we don't see guys like Slater or Jameson. Maybe we'll see Satin, Witmer, Smith and another frosh ot two. I hate to lose to the noles in any sport, but I love to have the team playing its best in May and June. The current record is better than 2017 at this point and that worked out better than other years where they sailed through midweek wins. It's easier for a skilled coach to develop struggling talented players than to win without talent. I certainly know that the team needs to get better and build consistent success, but I also knew last fall that there are a lot of unproven frosh and transfers on the team that would enter the season with a lot of uncertainties. I disagree with major changes to a system that wins so much and has succeeded so often in handling exactly the same sort of issues we have right now.
I'm poking fun at the circus, not you. Although we could blame Georgia for this, too, perhaps? Go GATORS! ,WESGATORS
I kinda miss poking fun at the human rain delay—guess we’ll have to settle for whuppin’em good…. Go Gators!
I'll leave the lineups to GatorGal, but confirmed by: StatBroadcast Live Stat Feed Behind the plate tonight... Jeff Head. Repeat: this is a Jeff Head WARNING. (A Jeff Head Watch is when conditions are favorable for Jeff Head to be assigned as the home plate umpire. A Jeff Head Warning is when he has actually been confirmed by radar... er... stat broadcast.) And if that's not enough... at first base, Seth Buckminster!
@Gatorgal04 said yesterday that she’ll be out of pocket this afternoon/evening—we’re on our own for tonight’s ballgame.
