    Bottom of a pint glass
As someone whose business cleans publicly accessible restrooms, if you don't lock them at night you're asking for broken fixtures, messes, drug use, sex... you name it. I'm sure there's liability as well.

The few ruined it for the many, but it is what it is.

Sadly, still popular politically. Wasn’t about the crime rate but about satisfying displays of social control through force.

Yes it’s sort of a circular self-fulfilling prophecy. People live on the street and are going to do those things. Until we address larger problems we are stuck in a doom loop.

San Fran has decided they've had enough crime, so they are doing something about it. They are tying welfare benefits to drug screening, and boosting police powers. The mayor's name is London Breed, believe it or not. (I'm sure there is a joke in there somewhere, but I'm too tired to figure it out at the moment.)

San Francisco ties welfare to drug-screening, boosts police powers in stunning tough-on-crime shift

Crime plummeted in NYC after a Republican mayor was elected.b. Democrats lost 5 straight mayoral elections over 20 years. The culture was changed. So much that Democrat De Blasio hired Giuliano's first police commissioner, Bill Bratton, in 2014.

Crime skyrocketed everywhere after the liberals retarded response to George Floyd's death, which caused police to enforce the law less strictly.

Why was crime so high in Jacksonville where Republicans controlled everything?

Could it be the rate has increased because more violent crimes are being reported whereas they weren’t being reported before due to a feeling of not being investigated buy the prior “more lenient “ prosecutor?
Not saying that’s what’s happening but isn’t that a possible explanation?

    That’s a pretty emphatic answer.

Care to explain how you’re that sure?

Yes she was elected during the second half of last year. Again, knowing that Republicans ruled Jacksonville for so long while was crying so bad?

The last thing SFPD was going to do was help Chesa Boudin. And if your argument is that regular people didn't report violent crimes because of their perception of the city's elected prosecutor, I welcome you to provide evidence in support of it. And things didn't get better in 2023 in terms of rate trends.
How SF crime trends compare to the rest of US
(Worth noting that speaking relatively, SF does better than the majority big cities in terms of violent crime rates and has for a long time, which is why I'm comparing the trend in rates.)

It was a possible explanation, I’m sure you’ve got all the dot plots laid out and know without a doubt why and why not…

Maybe lizard people landed after Boudin left office and were responsible for the increase in crime? It's a possible explanation!
