I posted a podcast from the NYT on the issue that was well done. Sometimes people we disagree with have a point, even if their motivations are not pure.
We know what the Founding Fathers looked like because people made portraits of them, better and more interesting ones than a computer ever will. We know what Nazis looked like because there are thousands of photos of them, actual images, not cartoonish renderings. What is the utility of an AI reproducing inferior images of something that already exists? AI has some promise for pretty simple tasks, but not generating entertainment or 'art.' I dont really understand the value of spending time making Nazis look better or more accurate. What purpose does this serve anyone? Who is asking for it? As I wrote before, this just seems like an exploit. Like how you could make those computerized speech programs say "booger" or "ass" when I was a kid. I can probably still make siri say booger, and a more sophisticated AI will still be able to render black Nazis or black George Washington for people to do something with, right? Do we need to all agree on the default for everything? Have arguments over what the default doctor or lawyer will look like? Male or female? Black or white? What is the purpose of any of that?
And I thought the minorities shown as Nazis was just the result of the “I” part of Google’s “DEI” program.
When forced to think stupidly like Democrats want AI breaks down. In real life Democrsts have higher rates of mental illness. Perhaps these 2 facts are related? Maybe Ai will decide that humans are so dumb they should be exterminated.
Whites are like 10-20% of the world. What percentage of the ai Nazis were non white, and more importantly who cares? It seems to me that AI is being viewed as more than it is. For now. The concern over AI isn't about what biases are or are not being programmed into ANI, but rather what happens when ANI, rockets past AGI into ASI? It's an interesting peak under the hood, perhaps (if this data isn't being deliberately mined for effect), seeing into the groundwork of an AI product, but it kinda seems like much ado about political points for some, and an incomplete view of the real challenges being presented to others.
Lol. Then their search algorithms are just AI generated words and not information I suppose. Cmon. Google is an information engine. Period. That is the bread and butter. They are not a graphic design firm.
You think telling the computer to draw you a rendered cartoon Nazi is the same thing as using a search engine to look up a photograph of a Nazi? Ok. Sure.
Google is possibly the worst of the platforms. During pan-panic Facebook would ‘fact check’ alternative views. But for the most part you could still view them. Google, on the other hand, took a scrub brush to alternative perspectives.
