What you didn't see was she is ankle chained to the stove.
    That's where Republican wives belong.

Kind of like the way that they didn't buy what Harry Truman was selling in 1948. You should also thank Peggy Noonan of the Wall Street Journal.
In her column for the Wall Street Journal, Peggy Noonan wrote that the main takeaway from President Biden’s State of the Union address is that “there’s life in the old boy yet.” The speech will quell talk, at least temporarily, about Biden being too old for the job, she argued. “He showed energy and focus, blurred some words and thoughts, maintained a brisk pace. He almost never spoke softly. He sometimes yelled. There was a give-’em-hell-Harry vibration, as if he’d been reading up on Truman,” Noonan, a former Ronald Reagan speechwriter, wrote.

Katie Britt was performing for an audience of one and my guess is that he was probably very pleased with her performance. She could very well be up there now with Kari Lake, Elise Stefanik and Tim Scott as a potential running mate with Trump on the Republican ticket.

Biden's speech didn't come remotely close to Trump's reference to immigrants poisoning the blood of America or inviting Putin to invade Europe and those just two examples that come immediately to mind.

Well, Trump has said (if Biden's quote of him is correct) that folks whose kids are shot at school just need to "get over it."

I thought it was the right speech for what he needed to accomplish, and it was a political campaign speech. It was energetic, emphasized the impact of his domestic policy with the infrastructure bill, the Chips act and alternative energy on manufacturing, jobs, wages and building up the country (which Republicans voted against and then celebrated the outcomes to constituents) and he brought in specific examples for relatability. NATO expansion and countering China by the security agreement are key global accomplishments. Israel/Hamas is not going well, and I don't think there is anyway to meet everyone's needs on that. Biden will take a hit there.

Initiating the speech at the threats to Democracy hit the elephant in the room directly, unexpectedly and forcefully. Great move, knowing Trump was watching and hosting Orban, it immediately puts him on the defensive and Republicans who are downplaying the insurrection and Putin's threats to sovereign nations (which BTW, if you go back and listen to Trump's first UNGA speech, he mentioned the importance of UN nations protecting sovereignty dozens of times - now he is all for Putin invading other countries).

He pinned border security back on Republicans, especially with Lankford mouthing 'it's true' at the positive outcomes the bill would have. Maybe enough to make people realize both parties are part of the solution.

While Republicans response can and will be about what they don't like about Biden's platform or policies, or Hunter, or the state of the world, there is no platform coming from Trump other than vengeance for his legal woes and bitterness over losing the 'rigged' election. Ironic, going back to Trump's inauguration speech, he praised the Obamas for the gracious and peaceful transfer of power as all President's had done before DJT.

If I was going to give a rebuttal I’d do it in a large empty sun filled room with a chair and an end table. Simple and optimistic. She reminded me of that “I’m not a witch” GOP candidate for the Senate in RI.
