Win the next two, win an SECt game and then bow out. I want more legs and less prestige.

It would feel great to beat Auburn again if we get to that 2nd game in the tournament, should the seeds line up, but I'm with you on being fresh.

Our ceiling - 4 seed (we win rest of games)
Our floor - 8 seed (we lose Vandy and next game)

Lunardi has a strong 6 with USC and Bama just ahead. If we outperform them we have a serious shot at a top 4 seed.

If Florida makes a 5 seed or above, I feel really strongly good about this team's ability to make the sweet 16. I think we need to make the SEC tourney semis (and notch at least one more quad 1) to lock up a top 5.

Anyone (i.e., the committee) who takes a deep dive into our schedule and performances will see other than two games, we lost by just a few points to really good teams, mostly on the road, and we had sizeable leads in several of those games. A good showing thus weekend and next week and a 4 seed isn't unrealistic, although I'd be happy with a 5 seed.

Even a 6 means we won't face a 1 or 2 seed until the second weekend. As a 6 seed, you likely see a 3 on day two. A 5 seed likely sees a 4 on day two.

I'm with you, I really like our chances v a 3 or 4 seed. I'll start to pucker up if we have to face a 1 or 2.

It might be better to say a 6 seed and face a 2 seed in the Elite 8 as opposed to a 1 seed if you are a 4 or 5 seed, assuming we get that far

Our only two basketball NCAA championships were preceded by SEC Tournament championships on "tired legs". What is this new obsession with having fresh legs? This is getting out of hand.

I was in a sports bar and involuntarily screamed like a girl... and that was before I realized Cheeze hit a 3 and we had won the game.

I'll be thrilled if we make it out of the first weekend. Can get too greedy

    Definitely.
In my experience teams looking past the first game to that 2nd/3rd game are upset quite often.
This team can make the FF but a cold shooting night will get them booted by a 12/11 seed. (Happens every year.)

Nice cherry-picking. Those two national championship teams were extraordinary.
What's more important is to see how we've played in a Thursday NCAAT game after having played in the SECT championship game on a Sunday. Every time I've seen that, we played a lackluster first game that Thursday. Even our 2014 overall number 1 team struggled with a shitty team in the Thursday game. I was there, watching in the stands. We were flat.

How am I cherry picking if I showed that the only two examples of us winning the National Championship
also were times that we won the SEC Tournament. It’s not my fault that the facts do not support your false narrative that losing the SECT is beneficial to winning in the NCAAT because of fatigue.

There are many reasons to struggle in a game that are not related to fatigue. You are assuming it was fatigue. Also, that other team had to play a lot of games, too. Would that not cancel it out? You guys are ridiculous sometimes with the arguing just to argue.

We were a 5 seed in 2000 and was the first one to make the championship game. Indiana did it in 2001 as well.

But there is the "curse" of the 5-12 match-up that everybody talks about. It is not a given that there will be a 5-12 upset but they do happen. I wouldn't pick my pool requiring one.

I fear getting a 6 seed in Omaha with Kansas as the 3. Not that Kansas is invincible but they would have a HUGE fan advantage.

Yes, 5 seeds make me nervous, but I feel like we would be a very underrated 5 seed. I like out chances in the first round matchup. It is that second game that worries me, in that I am not sure we bringthe same defensive intensity in the second game. As always, it depends on the matchups.

My argument is not about tired legs. I've never said that. My point is about emotional fatigue, not physical fatigue. I've watched many times the SECT championship game combatants come out flat for the Thursday game. Not so much for the Friday game. That one day extra seems to make a big difference.
