Looks like the metrics favor TN. As for the SEC, is UK still alive? They could go 13-5, which would include a win against TN on Saturday.
I think Tennessee is the better team, but I am leaning towards an upset tonight. I thought Tennessee was the best team we played all year, but that was early. I would like to see UF play them again and see how it goes on a neutral court.
I had a flashback to the infamous Butler game during the USCe game. I assume others did too, but I haven't read the USCe game thread.
Did you see then end? The refs disallowed a putback slam by Carolina (I though it was a legal but..) would’ve made the difference 5 points instead of UT by 7. The fans were booing like crazy lol
Congratulations to Rick Barnes. What a great season they had. The good news for his family is he’ll be home on March 22nd as per usual. He is one of the greatest regular season coaches of all time.
For real, regrettably for Barnes he seems to be joining that strange list of coaches that do well in the season and fall way short come money time. How far did he get in March with Durant and those teams at Texas? So he has that to deal with, but I agree they are a deserving SEC regular season champ. Many consider them a #1 seed. Lets see if they deserve that ranking come tournament time.
They are deep with their roster. Tough defense and Kneckt knocking down threes. it will take a team that is well coached and plays tough defense and can shoot.
I think that Durant team was out the first weekend? The year before when they had Aldridge and PJ Tucker was an elite 8 team.
If kneckt is off or sits awhile with foul trouble, they're not a very good team, which not many teams would be if their best player has a bad game, but they def go as he goes. I just can't put much faith in the making a deep tournament run due to Barnes history.
Durant was also a walking 20 and 10 guy that year, I looked at his avg for the season 25pts and 11 rebs. Crazy Numbers in college.
What I noticed was the long stretch in the second half where S.Carolina’s defense gave Tennessee real fits and SCe back into the game. The difference was how tough the Vols defense was until they took control
The damn will burst eventually. Hopefully not while at Tennessee. Some other greats were plagued with early exits before eventually figuring it out. Lute Olson and Roy Williams come to mind off hand.
