what an incredible display of shooting foul shots. Amazing stat. Clayton was 15–16, Pullin was 8-8, and Samuel was 9–9! What an improvement by him. Great job Gators!

It’s the most FTs we have shot in at least 25 years.
    So there’s that.

Don't look now, but the Gators have climbed from 14th--dead last-- to 11th in the SEC in season-long free throw percentage, and 7th in SEC play. Much improved over the course of the season. We're at 70.3% now.

I'm sure there is emphasis on free throw shooting but it boggles my mind when players shoot poorly at the stripe. A great free throw shooter is such a weapon especially for a guard or low post player. It can be demoralizing when the opposition sees an 80% free throw shooter in crunch time.

Amazing performance. Always good to see your big men and guards so efficient.

Since we're on stats I noticed this morning that the box score provided by ESPN doesn't add up correctly for the score and I verified it with another team too.

    FG 29-62 = 58
    3pt 7-19 = 21
    FT 40-46 =40
    Total = 119

So, what's up? The individual stats don't tally correctly for most . For instance, Richard shot 8-12, 3-5, 4-4 = 29, but his total is 23.

This is just something interesting I noticed due to the stellar performance last evening and is not intended as a distraction.

I could be wrong, but I think the FG percentage includes 3 pointers.

Look at "Effective FG %", which combines 2/3pt shots. UF was at 52.4%, slightly better than our average.

Been calling for our guards to get to the line more. Clayton proved why. He was 150% last night.

The FG line is all shots. The 3pt is within that, you're counting it twice. 2pt is 22-43.

I think the start was a bit flukey because even Clayton was struggling, but wasn’t he like a 95% FT shooter last year?

We definitely have not just solid, but excellent FT shooters in the backcourt. Samuel would be a huge bonus if he can hit 70%. The bigs are still a wildcard.

And that's the key. Free throw rate is one of the most consistent indicators of team success, even if you aren't great at shooting them. Easiest shots in basketball outside of transition dunks, puts opponents in foul trouble, and gets you to the line more because of the bonus. You could tell Golden was frustrated with the disparity in Columbia, and you can only rectify that one of two ways!

Yea, he started out the season terribly, but he finished pretty good. Still didn't finish like he played the whole season last year, but still very good compared to his peers.

    You're missing the 29 minus 7. SO it's 22 2FGM (44), 7 3FGMA (21) + 40FTs (40) = 105
