But there was so much good information shared about the size and color of regulation basketballs that I hardly noticed there was a game.
I just thought about why Bama shot so poorly from three early on. We were extremely energetic in our defense of the three point line. It did give up some easy points in the paint but it took Bama out of their usual attack
I think we played very aggressively the entire game and just bull rushed them such that they had no chance. We missed some shots early but I think we just so pumped. We really beat them bad at their own game. At one point, it seemed like we were having a dunk fest. We chased loose balls as good as I’ve seen all year. Clearly, we were ready to play tonight and was eager to prove we are not intimidated by them when the game is evenly officiated. Even, with a sizable lead late, we were still aggressive and trying to score. We played to win and did milk the clock down. This was very satisfying!!
This team can literally beat anyovdy when they play weel together. Proud of the win tonight and the relentless effort.
That was the most complete game this year. I know Bama did not shoot the 3 well but that also had to do with our playing good defense. And the home crowd was really in it, and on a weekday night. Great job all around. The biggest issue I saw was that the game was over well early from when Golden put in the senior walk-ons. Just got in and Clayton dribbled the ball. Should have been in at least one minute earlier. Not a bad thing if that is THE issue.
Head Coach Nate Oats Postgame Comments "You have to give Florida a lot of credit on the defensive end, they were really good. They were very physical with us and made it difficult to get our guards going early in the game. We let some offensive frustrations lead to some defensive let downs when we didn't play great on the offensive end. Late in the first five minutes the first half, I just felt like their physicality and their defensive intensity paired with our offensive struggles led to us not playing like we needed to on the defensive end. Just keeping us in the game was a struggle. It happened again in the second half. I thought when we were trying to make a run, we couldn't get any easy buckets because they did a great job on defense. It's a disappointing loss; we haven't had back-to-back losses in conference play in a couple of years. We have to bounce back and be ready to go on Saturday to see how high of a seed we can get going into Nashville."
If you need more reason to hate Nate Oats and more evidence what a douche he is, check out this quote: “It’s not a recipe for winning games when you get doubled up at the free-throw line," Alabama coach Nate Oats said. 24 of our 46 attempts were in the last 7 minutes of the game! We were up 21 at the 7 minute mark. The asshat makes it sound like our FT advantage wasn’t something that Alabama manufactured by purposely fouling us every time down the court to dare us to make FTs. I’m so glad we don’t have clown coaches like this in any of our sports. What a tool
