couldn't have happened against a better team too....I've been waiting for this revenge game since that elbow to Condo's head
Big games from lots of guys tonight. For me, the big difference was we played our best 3-point defense of the season and against a team that really shoots the 3.
Marty the cracker color guy was having a Coach Oats love fest. Sorry it didn’t work out for him. Terrible basketball analyst, give me Seth Greenburg, I thought he said we would probably win before the game, old coach who knows his stuff. Jimmy Dykes is pretty good too, us losing on the road to SC probably got him a little skiddish on us, but, HE IS ON Board NOW!
One thing being overlooked is that only 3 of our 12 Quad 1 games have been at home. 3 Neutral (1-2 with 2 without a starter) 6 Away (1-5 with 1 without a starter) 3 Home (2-1)
Man on man the whole game trying to beat us with the threes, we were waiting on them. Tyrese had a great game, Walter and Zion great games, Will Richards hit just about anything he threw up at the basket. Condon hit a three. The rest of the team played great defense and were the aggressor all night. Even Denzel Aberdeen hit a three and a inside shot to join the Alabamas pity party!
This was probably the most complete game. I’ve seen the gators play all year. They came in motivated and hot. Bama barely beat us on their court in overtime. We trounced them on our court. I have said many times previously on this forum that no team, including the number one seeds wants to see us in their corner of the bracket. Gators are dangerous. Go gators!
Bama has been a very good three point shooting team but got off to a horrible start from 3 (0-9) and didn't hit many until it was game over. That helped us a lot. Sears had to play hero ball. He scored a lot of points but maybe had a bagel for assists. He is skilled. The whole Bama team knows how to use their off arm on drives without getting called. They shove off just enough to not draw a whistle. And Samuel shooting better than Clayton from the stripe was huge. They obviously were sending him to the line in the second half and he delivered coffin nails. Pullin made them send him to the line and he was money. Bama fans will complain about the free throw differential but for a huge part of the second half they were fouling on nearly every possession hoping we would miss and also stopping the clock. It was a desperation move but what else could they do?
Yep. They were fouling Samuel late every time he touched it, figuring he'd miss a bunch. He made them pay.
once it was a blowout they stopped talking about us and the game entirely, they talked nonstop about other teams in the SEC. If Bama did that to us, they would have been talking Bama nonstop about them in the SEC tournament this and Final Four that until the whistle blew. So many homer commentators out there, would like to see some a little less biased
