You know much more than I but I question your comment only because there are many more football coaches fired than athletic directors.

 

In the simplest of terms, at the top 10-15 athletic departments in the country no AD can survive two consecutive failed football coaching hires unless there is some extreme circumstance.

Stricklin does not have extreme circumstances surrounding him. In fact, he’s already on a short leash for the hires of Amato and Newbauer who verbally abused female student athletes.

So in short, NO, Scott Stricklin will not get a third bite of the apple if Napier fails.

Those who know, know.

Both are bad outcomes for Year 3.

Coach's salary should be calculated at the end of the year; something like this:
$250k per cupcake win
$250k per OOC win
$500k per conference win
$500k bonus for division champ
$1Mil bonus for SEC champ
$1Mil per playoff win
$2Mil Bonus for a Natty
That's around $12,000,000 total for an undefeated season. The less you win the less you make. That way he gets paid based on deliverables. Sounds fair to me. Last season CBN would have made $2,000,000 for a 5-7 losing season and no bowl game. Sounds about right.

Actually, I think the dialogue was excellent. The points were spot on. Anyone who's been a Gator fan for more than a couple decades could see this pattern emerge repeatedly. He's especially on point regarding offense. Gator fans complained about our "weak offenses in 2006 and 2009, in spite of the fact we won 13 games each year (actually, our total offense in 2006 was 19th while our 2009 offense was ranked 6th in the nation). We all remember the howling in 2012, when Muschamp turned in a damned strong 11-2 team, beating Texas A&M (11-2), LSU (10-3), Vandy (9-4), USCe (11-2), and FSU (12-2). In spite of that, many fans couldn't get over the fact that our offense was ranked in the triple digits, and especially our pass offense was 114th out of 120 teams.

"This ain't Florida football. We toss the ball all over the field and score half a hundred on everybody!" The 2012 season was, to many, the 1989 pre-SOS Gators with "Emmitt Left, Emmitt Center and Emmitt Right." This in spite of the fact we had one of the top defensive teams in the nation (ranked 3d in the nation), one that Spurrier was delighted to inherit.

Mullen was also right about Florida lagging behind in facilities, infrastructure, support services, etc., and was spot on regarding the challenges faced with The Portal and NIL. Just because many here hate him does it mean he didn't have anything constructive to say...

It’s very different to complain about the Urban O that finished top 10 vs the Muschamp 2012. That Muschamp year was unsustainable. You can’t be a long term good program with an awful offense.

Obviously I’ll take a flukey lucky season over an earned bad season but there is nothing wrong or spoiled about raising alarms about an awful unit.
