Dudes will follow posters around from forum to forum to bring up past posts from other sections. They do it to me all the time. Weird ass behavior.
Steve Spurrier just crapped on his former team for the entire world to read, you gonna tell him to remain humble too?
Nothing I said is an ad hominem attack on ETN, just facts. I even said he was our best runner. Sorry I upset you and apologize.
And in the same breath that they say he isn’t good enough to be our RB1, they complain that he left. I wouldn’t argue with someone if they think Montrell is better… it’s a good debate, but we should all be able to agree that both should be starting somewhere. I’d venture to say that if Billy had given ETN the starting job, Montrell would have transferred too.
Some good backs in SEC. Ju Wright from Tenn awful good. Sanders from Ark big and fast. ETN could be top 5 but has to block and catch ball better. I like Johnson as much he will get 1000 yards rushing this year with 30 catches.
I would respectfully suggest that given Spurrier's role as "ambassador" for the University, his comments were quite inappropriate. He can think it all he wants, and he can talk to Napier privately about it all he wants, but what he did publicly was the kind of thing that would have gotten him fired if he was in a similar position in the corporate world. I'm a huge fan of Spurs, but what he did was not cool.
Spurrier isnt an idiot. His tongue is often sharp but the guy is rarely wrong when it comes to football or restaurants. We may not like what he had to say but I believe it is a warning shot and a valid one at that. We can rah rah Billy all we want but nothing we've seen so far screams the process is working and youre not going to sell that stuff to a no nonsense WINNER like SOS.. Maybe we take the leap this year ...maybe not but Spurs calls it like he sees it.
I can't belive how people just buy into the "can't block" narrative and hang on to that as why they are fine with Etienne leaving. Yall need to wake up. The reason for him leaving is the same reason we are a losing football team. Billy Napier's ego. He was the most talented returning player on the roster without question. If he has a weakness, make him better or scheme accordingly. If he feels slighted, you need to make him feel wanted. You think this is the last time a player, in the portal era, will be unhappy? You think players don't need to get better at certain things? You want a coach that doesn't change anything to accommodate his best players? It's a different world
CBN played the better all around back, and yet, ETN got nearly the same carries. It wasn’t Billy’s ego as to why he left. It was ETN’s. Good riddance.
That's not the point. He isn't the coach. He quit UF 23 years ago. He isn't in charge. He won't make any decisions regarding the football team. He is basically a cheerleader for the athletic department, and a fundraiser. When you are in such a position, you don't do what he did.
I like Trell but he isn’t better than ETN. Rocket Sanders is on South Carolina now and good luck behind that awful OL they have. Plus he looked slow and fat last year. Jaylen Wright is at the NFL combine right now. ETN is best back next year and an elite player
Agree. No one that I know ever thought of him as No. 2 here last year. He was in 1a-1b system because no SEC coach leaves one back in by himself all season to destroy his body these days. If he's trying to build his brand, he didn't do himself any favors by labeling himself "RB2" who wasn't good enough to start for a "losing team."
He did quit after coaching the Gators for 11 years with a record of 127-27-1 winning 6 SEC Championship and a National Championship. He made the Gators a football powerhouse. He is Florida Football. As far as I'm concerned he has the right to say anything to anybody about Florida football at anytime.
If he can't honor the position UF has given him, and perform the duties of that position, then he should quit. He isn't the coach. He isn't the athletic director. And this isn't the 1990's. If he can't do his job, then he should have the decency to leave, particularly since it seems he is stabbing his alma mater in the back.
Maybe, just maybe Spurrier knows a little bit about how a good coach runs a program, a game, a practice. And just maybe he's not seeing it get any better and he's throwing a flag to say, things better change in a hurry. This is of course pure conjecture on my part. But again, I am not going to throw the greatest gator under the bus for anyone, especialy a newbie coach. And I like Billy.
