I have been very impressed with Todd Golden this year. He's been more vocal on the sidelines than last year, getting on the refs when he feels the need. And the way he rebuilt this team after last season and has worked the rotations to maximize performace has been really good. Some time in game adjustments work, sometimes they don't, but more often than not I think he's been a pretty good in game coach. He's still young and improving.

I think that you would want a guy that could pick and pop setting that screen. Matt Bonner would be awesome but he hasn't played for the Gators in a long time. Condon has shown some ability to hit the three and can set very hard screens. Haugh needs too much space and time to be comfortable right now shooting the trey but might grow into the role. Samuel's range is not deep enough. He is more of a 2-3 zone buster getting the ball around the free throw line in triple threat position.

Unless you mean setting a HARD screen to put fear into the defender. There is that element. Samuel could fill that role.

We are a very good passing team. I'd like to see less dribbling and more passing. We're not always great shooting but rebounding makes up for it. Too much hesitation from shooters. I'd also like to see our guards on the line more. They're crafty enough to draw more shooting fouls.

Up 10 with 13 minutes to go, I'm like, "We're screwed." Tough place to win, so many FTs for them, frustrating.

Rebounding is what hurt us the most in the 2nd half. They boxed out a lot better and the only offensive rebound we got the 2nd half was with just a few seconds left in the game and then we threw that one away.

    Upon Further Review...

One more game in the books, one more game to figure out what is the team and what can we do to have a pleasant tourney. IMO, the team likes to get into a groove and then ride it to a statement. But if the other team gets it out of its groove, it does not seem to know how to get another one started. aTm and this game are prime examples of tough playing teams going down the stretch who prevent us from winning. Missouri was another team but they are in a mental funk that can't seem to know how to finish games. Kind of a pity for them. WAY better than their record.

Two players to me need to be the focus of getting us back on track, besides Pullin doing it all himself. Kugel is the natural person but he just isn't looking like the light is going to come on in earnest, just a bunch of fits and starts. The other is Haugh. I wanted him to shoot 3s against Missouri and for whatever reason, they either did not give him the right look or our offense did not run plays that allowed him to take it. It looked like he was prepared to do it this game but his brick seemed to end the experiment. Pity.

Richard is an x-factor, along with Samuel. When they are on, it is hard to beat this team. But if they are just a bit off, then it is up to Clayton and Pullin to take up the slack. And then comes the opponent's zone defense.

Micah seems content in his role. His "tough game" came and now it is a memory, for whatever reason. I have optimism for the future, just not that much for him the remaining part of this season. Rebounding, blocking shots and tip-ins.

Going forward, it appears as if this team is a 1-1 or a 0-1 team in the tourney. It all depends on their seeding and who they play. Tough teams who play quality team defense is their Achilles heel. If they get to the Sweet 16, I will be ecstatic. I just don't think they are built to withstand increasingly better teams. It is what it is.

I said he was an elite athlete. Where did you think I didn’t say that. ?
His IQ is average at best , will dribble in to trouble, bad pass skill. Elite shooter and athlete.
Will be a second or third team all sec

It's as if the Refs had already decided who was going to win the game so why call a foul on the eventual winners since it would just delay the "inevitable."

4 consecutive turnovers at the end of the game killed us.

I echo this sentiment. I was texting a friend back and forth while the team began to struggle on Saturday about Golden and his improvement this year.

One thing I emphasized that this is "his" team and "his" players. With how the transfer portal is set up now we already have an idea of what the future holds, hopefully with continuous improvement for such a young coach.

No more are days of a coach succeeding with the previous departing staff's group of players. The transfer portal basically has eliminated that. Your expectation in basketball should yield nearly immediate results if you are able to bring in the type of players you want to run your philosophy. I like what I am seeing.
