As much as $1.4 billion to be exact. Go woke, go broke.

Bud Light boycott likely cost Anheuser-Busch InBev over $1 billion in lost sales | CNN Business

Some here said the boycott would be nothing for AB InBev, want to still keep saying that? Do you really want to try to say $1.4 billion isn't a huge deal for any Company?

And here's the thing, the article even mentions that while Bud Light is recovering, the recovery is far slower than expected. That's where the real pain IMO is going to be felt. The Bud Light brand is forever damaged and there are many former Bud Light customers who will never return.

AB InBev made many mistakes here, the biggest being that it forgot its core audience for Bud Light. Bud Light has always been a conservative blue collar male beer. Their marketing person flat out threw Bud Light's base under the bus for more liberal groups that will never have loyalty to the beer that their core audience did. White liberals are always going to be the wine and cheese or the mixed drink crowd. If they do drink a beer it's going to be a craft beer, not a Bud Light, Miller Lite or Coors Light type beer.

Bud Light isn't like a Disney, or a Nike, where their experience or product is unique and can't be easily replaced. Bud Light is far more like Gillette, a product that still suffers from its boycott years ago. I know for me I have never bought a Gillette product since that boycott and don't miss it one bit. And that's the problem, Bud Light has lost a lot of its core customer base for good. They found other beers, probably beers that are better, and will have no reason to ever come back.

So I'm sure AB InBev isn't loving their $1.4 billion dollar mistake and that many other Companies have also took notice. Conservatives will speak with their wallets and we have significantly economic power and can absolutely badly hurt your Company if you go woke. Go woke, go broke.

$1.4 billion lost. Pretty darn effective and a big message sent. And it's still continuing. Think shareholders really like seeing $1.4 billion in lost sales?

    no they didn’t.

i agree, maga’s main concern for the country is culture wars. maga is easily triggered and promotes a cancel culture for whatever they deem as politically incorrect . ie they wanted to boycott cracker barrel for just offering “woke” meat as an additional option.

As Jonah Goldberg wisely cautioned, it can be a noble thing to join a tribe, but what makes it noble is the object of its strength, not the strength itself.

Funny story. When I was at UF around 2000, I went to Ireland for Spring Break. My goal was to drink Guinness everyday, partly because I thought Guinness was cool. While at the pubs, I’d sometimes see groups of Irish college dude, and they were always drinking the same thing: Bud Light.

When I was like 23 I thought I was hip and loved to drink Harp's. I then met this really badass Irish special forces guy through my job. He told me nobody in Ireland actually drinks Harp, it's just some swill they export. I don't think I've had a Harp since.

As for the topic of this thread, unless people stopped drinking or switched to craft beer, they just gave their money to some other brand that supports LGBT

The pain these right wingers must have suffered in life to have developed so much hate and disdain for others.

    Similar story…
I was dating a gal at UF from Wales. She and her mum asked me what kind of beer did I want for a small gathering. I chose Heineken thinking I’d drink something better than a bud light.
They laughed at me and told me Heineken was not a real import. lol at myself now.

I don't have any experience with Ireland but when I'm in England I don't see U.S. beers. They may be available but I've never seen a local drink one. I would be embarrassed to ask for one. When in Lyndhurst I do as the Lyndhurst(ians?) do.

Was this the event where the people who claim to only be mad at trans people for "grooming" got really mad because a brand that can only be sold legally to adults worked with a trans person?

the whole thing was bizarre. from the reaction, you'd think that AB was running constant commercials for trans rights on national TV. Instead, it was a short vid on Mulvaney's Instagram page, right? That really caused all that outrage?
