What I heard on PBS after the Willis-Wade hearing earlier this week is …. the case would go to the Prosecuting Attorneys’ Council of Georgia which would choose another office to handle the case. The person offering this bit of tid indicated the director of the council is a political appointee by Georgia’s governor…… and suggested the council could just sit on the case and not assign it to another jurisdiction.

I think that would depend how far the judge goes, if at all. If he removes Willis and Wade, then other Fulton County prosecutors and outside counsel could try the case. There’s already a team on it. If he removes Fulton County, then the head of a state organization would have to retain another county to try the case.

Re the election, it’s a state case so I’m not sure what bearing that has on his guilt or innocence unless the GA governor issues a pardon, but he is not allowed to do so until Trump would have served a minimum period of time in jail (3 years IIRC).

Separately I think you’re over relying on polls as to how close this election will be.

No conflict was proven. Just innuendo and guesswork.

There's not really much conjecture about Trump's conspiracy to overturn a federal election though. From fake elector slates to idly watching while 100s of police were beaten. It was the most un-American thing most of us have ever witnessed.

Oh, also; "I'll take 'I just want to find, uh, 11,780 votes' for $1,000, Alex."

What everyone forgets is that under Ga law the conflict has to have an adverse effect on the defendant.

What adverse effect has her conduct had on Trump?

She’s an abject idiot for putting herself in this position, as is Wade. She will not be re-elected, might get sanctioned or worse by the bar or under Georgia penal code, but did not create a conflict of interest much less one that adversely impacted Trump.

That wasn’t what I was commenting on. I don’t give a crap if trump is convicted or not. Not voting for him either way. The rest is you being wildly partisan. Oh and can you show me the 100’s of police officers who were beaten. I’ll wait…

Georgia Judge Needs More Time To Decide Fate Of Trump Prosecutor Fani Willis (msn.com)

"The Georgia judge overseeing Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis’ election subversion case against former President Donald Trump has said he expects to decide within the next two weeks whether Willis may continue to prosecute the criminal case."

    +

“I think it’s been very much made clear by the argument made today that there are several legal issues to sort through, several factual determinations I have to make, and those aren’t ones I can make at this moment,” Fulton County Superior Judge Scott McAfee said Friday after listening to closing arguments from both sides. “And so I will be taking the time to make sure that I give this case full consideration its due.”

    +

"The original and the core financial allegations — there is a relationship, and money has changed hands. There is maybe still an open question of where the ledger stands, but I think it was conceded that the balance could run in the district attorney’s favor,” McAfee told Abbate.

“It’s no longer just a theory that money changed hands, it’s no longer just speculation and conjecture,” the judge added.

There is no conjecture to the rampant corruption in Fulton County. It's on full display. They can't win, so they cheat.

    A perspective on yesterday's hearing:

Trump Lawyers Put Final Nails in Fani Willis's Coffin (townhall.com)

"Sadow raised rhetorical questions about who has the strongest motive to lie: "Who has the best motive of anyone to lie? They do. Who has the most at stake to lie? They do. Who wants to stay on this case, for whatever the financial reason may be? They do."

He also lambasted Willis for pulling out the race card at a black church in Atlanta where she claimed that Wade is under scrutiny simply because he's "a black man." Colloquially called "the church speech," which was part of a public conversation she had "with God," the Democrat DA's comments injecting race violated the professional rules of conduct, Sadow argued.

It was a "calculated" maneuver, Sadow said, to create "prejudice" in the minds of the jurors. "Can you think of anything more that would heighten public condemnation of the defendant than alleging that the defense counsel and the defendants were making their motion based on race and religion? That's as bad as it gets in Fulton County, with all due respect," Sadow stated.

"Virtually everybody in this community [...] has reviewed and analyzed that speech that she made in a premeditated way," attorney Craig Gillen for Trump co-defendant David Shafer added, accusing Willis of attempting to taint the jury pool."

""Sadow raised rhetorical questions" And that ends the discussion since rhetoricals were all they had. Basically zero hard evidence.

Fani Willis warned Nathan Wade's lawyer to stay quiet: witness (nypost.com)

A new witness could testify Fani Willis warned lover Nathan Wade’s former business partner to stay quiet about their affair, an explosive new court filing claims.

“They are coming after us. You don’t need to talk to them about anything about us,” Willis is alleged to have warned Terrence Bradley in a September 2023 phone call.

The call was overheard by Cobb County, Georgia, prosecutor Cindi Lee Yeager, according to court papers filed Monday by Trump co-defendant David Schafer.

Interesting bit of tid. Looks like she is a UF alum, law school maybe? I wonder how long before the attacks on Yeager begin ….. as she is a white woman and may very well be a conservative.

If townhall and the nypost are all you have for your arguments, don't bother.

I don't know why this decision would take 2 weeks though. Is this judge corrupt and waiting to see what kind of bribes he could be offered in that period?

...... and more. wonder if Cindi Yeager will be subpoenaed by this committee and the Fulton County ethics Board?

Georgia defense attorney subpoenaed to appear before state committee investigating Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis (msn.com)

"Defense attorney Ashleigh Merchant has been subpoenaed to appear before a Georgia state Senate committee hearing on Wednesday as it investigates the actions of Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis.

Merchant confirmed to CNN that she had been subpoenaed for the hearing, which will be livestreamed.

The Georgia legislative committee, formed in January to investigate the Fulton County District Attorney, said they planned to issue subpoenas as they investigate Willis, the Democratic state prosecutor who brought the racketeering case against Donald Trump and his allies for their actions after the 2020 election.

Merchant, the defense attorney for a Trump co-defendant, is the first person to be issued a subpoena by the committee. She initially launched the allegations of an improper relationship against Willis and Nathan Wade, the lead prosecutor on the case. The controversy has threatened to undermine the case against Trump in Georgia."

No, he said he had 2 murder cases already on his calendar when this gift dropped in his lap out of the sky.

And is it a written opinion he will be offering? Takes a little more time to write than a two sentence post on a message board impugning his integrity. .

Another setback for Fani Willis and her pursuit of Trump

Judge In Georgia Deals Blow To DA Fani Willis, Dismissing 6 Charges In Trump Case (msn.com)

"Judge Scott McAfee of Fulton County Superior Court ruled in an order that six of the indictment's counts, including three against Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee for 2024, must be dismissed."

    +

"The decision is a setback for Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, whose case was already on shaky ground due to an attempt to have her removed from the prosecution over her romantic relationship with a colleague.

It's the first time charges in any of Trump's four criminal cases have been dropped, with the judge citing prosecutors' failure to provide sufficient details about the alleged crime."

They picked the biggest clown of them all to prosecute the one case against Trump that had some actual potential.
