The different between Democrats and MAGATs is that when Biden shows signs of cognitive decline Democrats are concerned. When Trump shows signs of cognitive decline it doesn't bother his supporters in the least. I would even go so far as to suggest that it's probably another quality of the defeated indicted former president that actually endears him to his supporters.
However, now that his presidency is on the line and Americans are fed up with his lack of handling the border, the Biden Administration has decided to do something about it. If it were true that Americans are fed up and the administration has decided to do something about it....wouldn't that be a good thing?
Except it represents (1) an admission by the current administration that it was wrong about immigration and exercised extremely poor judgement over the last 37 months and (2) the change is only the result of the DNC recognizing it was wrong on immigration and then instructing the current administration to change its position for political purposes, not concern for the nation and US citizens and properly documented aliens.
Not really because the are just trying to get him re-elected and then will go back to doing the same as they have the last 3 years.
I am all for for any politician or politcal party that is willing to change its stance or its policies to better represent the wants and desires of their constituants and to govern effectively. This is what is referred to as a functioning Democracy. I commend the Biden administration and Senate Democrats for changing course. I am not for any politician or political party that gets what it wants from its politcal opponents yet scuttles their success in order to stop the opposing party from representing the wants and desires of their own constituants and to govern effectively. This is what is referred to as dysfunctional political leadership. I feel contempt for House Republicans that are willing to forfeit what they've long sought in an attempt to keep their opposition from doing what they always wanted to do themselves. And the most mind-numbing aspect of it all is the voters willfully going along with giving up this victory in their blind loyalty to dysfunction.
I agree, and this bill MIGHT have been better than nothing, but obviously that is my opinion and the opinion of those who actually get to vote on it was that nothing is better. Argue all you want, but don't condemn when their opinion doesn't match yours. By the way have you read the whole bill? Did you see where the secretary has nearly sole discretion to implement most of the meat of the bill?
Your view is uneducated. Immigrants add to the economy more than they take. This report includes all immigrants, including naturalized citizens, legal documented immigrants, and undocumented. Basically, immigrants are vital to our economy, as they tend to be of working age, whereas the citizen population, as a whole, is aging. And this includes the 8 million or so undocumented in our workforce at current, and about an additional 1 million school aged or younger, which will be adding to the workforce in the coming years. Remove them, and we'll have massive labor shortages in several key sectors.
How to identify a bias free report of the fact is a tough problem. I don’t really believe in bias free, but I do think there are journalistic standards that evolved for a reason. I think it’s probably fair to say that NYT suffers from a lack of intellectual diversity, but I don’t think that in itself is proof their staff aren’t journalists. Now the day that one of them begins an article with the phrase “Today Trump amazingly got up off his fat orange ass in order to…“ would be the last day I would consider what they were doing as journalism.
That's horrible!! Why didn't we just enact the awesome Trump plan he proposed that would have all the construction and agriculture jobs filled by people with college degrees!!?!!? Sometimes it's hard to believe, based on current debates, that this is really America. (Russian bot infused or not)
It’s an election year and there is/was a bi-partisan bill on the table that might never pass in another election cycle? Do you think that after this bit of chicanery by Republican house members that anything similar will get support by Democrats in the next Congress?
