Imagine a world in which you’re spied upon, barred from opening your business if not deemed essential, not allowed to go to church, prohibited from comforting your dying and your children taken from you.

Oh wait, that’s OUR authoritarian regime.

The world has changed a lot since 1989.

 

There are other factors that quantify well being than straight up salary. In some cases things like health care may be covered by government where in the US that is paid through by salary. Also don’t know if they used purchasing power parity.
