Missouri was fighting for their lives and we were on cruise control, Will obviously wasn’t focused coming out. But Zion and Tyrese made sure we would win, even Handles played a nice part also. So tonight we played down to the competition but the guys were looking ahead.
I had no idea Tyrese was that good in the high post. He has an amazing handle for a guy his size and has some moves, makes great decisions too. What a monster out there tonight, would love to see more of that crossover move from right to left of his, always seems to score even with tough contested layups
Just finished watching the recording. Not our best game by any stretch but we did enough to win it with our best scorer sitting on the bench. I'll gladly take it.
On one play Condon got hit in the face pretty hard and a foul was called on the Mizzoo player. Not reviewed but Pat Adams asked Condon if he was OK. WTF?
Condon plays fast and hard. The officials call a lot of fouls on him that opposing teams should be called for. Once a guy bowled over Zion under the basket, was an easy call for a foul, but they gave the ball to Missouri, good grief. Condon got hit twice in the face, no calls, again unbelievable.
They're like Vandy, better on the court than on paper. Just can't quite make the plays when they need them. Remember, Mizzou made the NCAAT last season and had most of their guys back. Their fan base was abuzz in the preseason, talking Final Four. You can't really take any SEC team for granted.
I think coach is only playing the guys he has been playing. He's not putting Rishwain in when Pullin, Clayton and Richard couldn't keep Mizzou's guards from driving.
Honestly, I think the refs had a lot to do with the Mizzou guards’ success. Our guys were playing them very loose because the refs were callling fouls on anything… even when there was zero contact.
I realize a game is played based on what the opponent is doing and so you do what you have to do to win that game and not what you want to "work on" for the future. What we got was a series of zones thrown at us and some full court press. That was the good thing about the game (besides winning it). The thing I wanted but did not manifest was for Haugh to get more chances to shoot 3s. My guess is that he had to defend a shifty guard on the perimeter in a way that wasn't good for the team and so his time on the floor was limited. Getting both Kugel and Aberdeen out there more was also a good thing. The more they play, the more they can figure out their roles. We need at least one of them to emerge. To me, Aberdeen seems ready to have the light turned on. But we shall see.
that was some good coaching to get the ball to TS inside of the FT line. He can take it to the hoop or drop off to handlogten for an easy basket. yeah, I was yelling at the TV for a review, nothing. In another sequence, Honor had 3 consecutive bumps to Haugh, I believe, going to the basket. No call. Next possesion, haugh got more agressive on D and got called for the foul. It occurred to me that Clayton's T was likley a comment regarding the one-sided calls. We don't get the calls on the road or at home
I agree with @108 that I’d like to see what Rishwain has to offer. Kug and Zel are good players, I just wonder if Rish is ready to contribute more consistently right now. I trust Coach Golden, though.
His crossover move looks like he is going to get blocked, then he quickly uses either hand and scores. His high post assist to Handles was a thing of beauty. His taking Will Richards lob for the thunderous dunk, Missouri at this point knew they couldn’t stop him, was a quick move. It has been a while since we had a power forward this talented. He showed he is one of the best bigs in the SEC.
