It is very nice to see our friends on the right once again embrace courtesy, politeness and speaking with proper decorum. It seemed they'd lost their value of that when, for just one example, they made excuses for their political leader publicly calling immigrants "vermin."

 

Here you go River, this is precisely the type of post being referenced in this thread. And, as far as my opinion re TDS on TWFSG, this is a great example. And, these types of posts infect very many discussions on the board. Just about any discussion about the ‘24 election or the likely GOP candidate is rendered a cesspool by comments like this.

Now I know people repeatedly posting this mindless pablum generates ad impressions for GC …. but it does little advance any discussion. This is not normal human behavior.

I'm sure anyone can point to any number of posts that they would consider pointless distractions from reasonable discussion. Do you think your own always advance intelligent conversation?

I'll stipulate that if each of us were not passionate about our political leanings we probably wouldn't waste the time to post on a message forum that no matter what is posted, it will not cause most any of us to pause and reflect that maybe you might have a point. I have tried to not refer anymore to Biden as Bidumb, idiot in chief and any other derogatory term simply because when I read someone else and they start with the typical Trump slang, I don't usually give there point any credit. We can all do better at this, and you want more engagement with passionate political pontificators, it would be wise for all of us to ease up on the stupid slang names we have all created for the 2 people that one of them will be our next president.
Our bias always gets in the way of seeing what something actually is. Just like my bias gets in my way to see Trump as the evil Hitler many of you claim he is, your bias gets in the way of seeing just how far Biden's mental capacity has been diminished in the past few years. Unless something comes totally unexpected, we will have one of these guys to deal with for the next four years.

 

I agree that juvenile name-calling can often prevent meaningful discussion, or even indicate serious mental or character flaws in an individual. And I can't tell you how much I applaud your bravery in condemning this from private individuals on a message board.
