    Other news:

    Heard yesterday UF has been credited (re-classified) with couple of new quad 1 wins.
    PITT is now a Quad 1 win. And I'm not sure on the other.

    Anyway, good news for gator nation.

    Big time game tonight as Kentucky heads to Starkville 3.5 point underdogs. Let’s hope MSU can pull it off as it knocks UK down the standings and solidifies MSU as a Q1 win.

    Also Pitt @ Clemson. A win would propel Pitt even further up the NET to keep them a Q1 win.

    Pretty much the only realistic way to get a double bye now is to go 4-0 or end up in a 3 way tie with Kentucky and South Carolina after we win at South Carolina.

    If UT finishes first, beats UK again,and we finish tied with UK, who gets the tie-breaker? We would be 0-1 vs UT while they would be 0-2. Would they get penalized for having to play UT twice? I hope so!

    Nope. Assuming Bama is #2 they’d be 1-0 vs Bama and we’d be 1-1 so they’d get the tiebreaker.

    You are probably right, but interestingly, the SEC lists the criteria differently depending on a two-team tie or a three(or more)-team tie:

    2-team: Won-lost record of the two teams versus the No. 1 seed (and proceeding through the No. 14 seed, if necessary).
    3+-team: Best winning percentage of the tied teams versus the No. 1 seed (and proceed- ing through the No. 14 seed, if necessary).

    I am pretty sure what you are posting is the second tiebreaker for both of those scenarios, unless something has changed this year. In the past, whether it is two team or three team ties, head to head is the first tiebreaker and then record versus seed number one, seed number two, etc.

    Correct, I was just highlighting the difference in verbiage used for the same level of tie-breaker. Why use "won-lost record" if you didn't mean something distinct from "best winning percentage" (or vice versa, of course)?

    Before the season began, a thread asked what we thought was a definition of a good season. I said (along with some tourney success) we need to land in the 4th to 6th position at the end of the regular season. I think we only have a puncher's chance for 4th place, but I see us and Kentucky fighting for the 5th position. If we get eclipsed by say Miss St and we end up 7th, I would definitely feel disappointed. This IS the time to go to the whip and get focused on the finish line.

    Update: We really need to go 3-0 OR beat South Carolina and pray we end up in a 4th place tiebreaker scenario with South Carolina and Kentucky. There are some toss up games in the projections here that could change everything.

    Tennessee and Alabama in basketball are equivalent to Kentucky and Ole Miss in football. They field some good teams... people get excited about them... and then they fail to bring it home.

    Sounds like Tennessee in both basketball and football. Maybe add baseball to that list.

    Maybe I should say men's basketball so that there is no confusion.

    Tennessee did win football National Championship, so I didn't include them in the diss.
