AP classes usually. They are weighted. Typically students will get two GPA's. One weighted and one not (where 4.0 is straight A's). Some schools use the weighted one and some don't.
Glad for your kids . You did a great job in raising . There was no chance that I could have gotten into UF as a general student . Thank God I had a pretty good breaking ball that Coach Fuller liked . Worked out well for me but I didn’t really deserve it. I was way overrated I’m an early to mid 70s guy and UF baseball was not at the level that it is now.
similar. I got looks but no real UF interest. I was early 90s and A bit undersized. 150lbs soaking wet. My legion teammates were a little more ‘jacked’ going to FSU, Miami etc. funny thing I had a better BA and Field percentage but not the same size. Ironically had a great game vs Valdes that I doubt he would even remember. 3-4 with 2 Doubles. I decided to take some $ and play elsewhere. Got hurt and made my way back to UF as non athlete. Ironically we ended up playing UF in regionals my freshman year and lost a close one. It all turned out pretty good. Hard to see it now but it will for most of these applicants too.
As some have pointed out in this thread, some of the weighted GPAs may not be accurate. Unless there's AP team sports, ceramics or digital art offered at other schools that I'm not aware of. University of Florida Office of Admissions
This was disrespectful and unwarranted. Swampbabe was an AP teacher at a very good high school and more qualified than you to comment on this thread relevant to the admissions process at UF. I respect and welcome her input on these matters. She was helpful to our family last year with study prep for my daughter's AP Gov exam (different high school) when we felt they were running behind on the curriculum. I've come to the realization that I may not 100% agree with posters on here but I can be respectful because EVERYONE has something to offer.

I have heard of advanced classes in the arts (music and art) but it's definitely not at every school and is usually part of a dual enrollment situation at a local university. Never heard of an AP in sports programs.
My wife's area did that for IB classes. You got 4.0 scale for general classes, 5.0 scale for AP classes, and 6.0 for IB classes. As others pointed out though, UF and other schools generally reweight GPAs that aren't ridiculous.
Sorry, I was being tongue in cheek with the AP electives. A high school kid would have take pack their entire schedule from 9th grade on with nearly all AP/IB/AICE courses to get some of supposed weighted GPAs, at least in the way that UF determines. Not saying it can't be done, just questioning how legit these claims are.
True, but in order to get those higher weighted grades, you have to do really well on the final. It's possible you pass the AP class and get the normal high school credit but if you don't score highly on the AP final, you don't get the bonus GPA points.
A member of the admissions board at the School of Dentistry admitted that they penalize students that are legacies. He was quite proud of that.
I did not see mu daughter's application, but she said there is a place to enter if your parents and/or siblings attended UF.
As a 27 year townie in Alachua County there is also the question of how many students the surrounding infrastructure can handle. The roads, rentals, parking, mass transportation etc. I can remember that when UF hit 50K enrollment there were a lot of discussions between UF and city/county govt about what level of enrollment the local governments could handle. IIRC, UF does not pay local taxes but does require local services. I think they do subsidize the bus system and may pay towards some other services.
