And the UIC player (Christine Toniolo) in question, is the #1 pitcher for the Italian National Team. She was shutting us down until Jocey smashed a line drive off her shin and she only lasted one more batter.
Alabama is 16 - 0. Impressed? Don't be. Their schedule is easier than the Gators. The only teams they played with a pulse were Virginia & GA Tech and those games were relatively close. Their ERA is close to Gators but not their hitting. I predict Gators win at least two when they go to Tuscaloosa in a couple of weeks.
It's going to be a very good series... IMO 2 very evenly matched teams. If our offense lives up to its potential? We should sweep. But they need to flip the switch against better pitching.
Florida softball's new pitching staff finds early success - The Independent Florida Alligator I can’t wait to see how these phenomenal freshmen do in California.

National D1 softball stats just published. Gators 1st in ERA, shutouts, scoring. 2nd in on base %. 3rd in BA & fielding. Incredible stats but premature.
Nice honor. Who do y'all think is #1 between Brown and Rothrock? If it were a deciding game against a top team, whom would you start?
According to Walter Nolan's website, as of today, Alabama's SOS is #167, Florida #168. Michigan, who the Gators play again this Saturday, is #185. He has Alabama with an RPI ranking of #27 at 16-0, Florida #40 at 15-2.

I randomly remember the time I messaged Megan in 2010 on Facebook. I forgot I messaged her until 2021 when I deleted my Facebook account. She never opened my message lol.
Several years ago I was in a Zaby’s on I-10 west of Jacksonville when the Miss. State softball bus pulled in. It was 6:30 PM on a Sunday and I guessed they may have played in a tournament at JU or UNF. With a nine hour trip back to Starkeville, it aroused my curiosity about the logistics faced by a softball team. Your post rekindled that curiosity! If anyone knows the travel details for the West Coast trip or other future trips, I believe it would be a great addition to the Forum. (BTW, about half of the MSU team ate at Zaby’s and half went across the street to Wendy’s.)
I hope it is not like last year. The team arrived at GNV at 6 am. Their plane had mechanical problems and they waited until noon, and the flight was cancelled. They came back to campus and worked out. Then they bussed to TPA to board another flight. After landing in CA, they were bussed to the tournament and arrived 40 minutes before their first. And we gripe because they played so poorly. And the weather was very cold. Walk a mile in their shoes.
