If you don’t think hundreds year old newspapers are “legacy media” but think outlets that have existed for maybe 2-3 decades are, I don’t know what to tell you.

This sort of strikes me as the same characters who would cite the “lamestream media” or “fake newz, then cite something from Fox or Breitbart as truth. I viewed that sort of terminology as a dead giveaway I was dealing with a moron. Newspapers, radio, and local news are definitely legacy media if the cable news outlets are. It’s all relative to “internet media”, podcasts, or social media type sites which are new media. The term itself means nothing other than that.

    Top of the ridge
You can call whatever media whatever you want. You can watch whatever you want. You can call a horse a zebra and donkey a mule. So what.
Again, in my opinion… with out referring to anyone as a moron or being insulting…the use of legacy news refers to the big national news casts.

I don’t watch local news.. mostly because I’m out in the hills a good ways a way from real news stations.
I don’t watch much of anything actually.
National news I get from websites for CNN, Fox, and Yahoo scroll…

Nothing, this is just Alinsky rule #4 at work, making them live up to their own standards. They Republicans point out the discrepancy, then the democrats waste time trying to address it.

Which party has been fighting gun control for decades? Can't have a shooting without a gun.

Which party has been fighting (at the local and state level) economic opportunities for blacks?

Which party has been fighting (at the local and state level) education opportunities for blacks?

Which party has been fighting against representation for blacks in politics (through Gerrymandering, etc.)?

Looks like your party isn’t working on the right stuff and wasting money along the way.
Black on black murder is still a huge problem.
Nice dance moves you got there bud…Tried to side step the issue.

No dancing here. I'm a republican. You don't seem to recognize me as one because I'm an intelligent republican. I don't worship Trump. I do agree with you that my party (the republicans) isn't working on the right stuff and is wasting money along the way. Walling out Mexico with a 2,000-mile wall? Huge waste of money. YUGE ! ! ! Something that a political candidate who is a simpleton (yet claims to know "big words") might support. Attempt to purchase Greenland (when it's not for sale)? Foolhardy. Slapping tariffs on China left and right while watching U.S. jobs evaporate? Pure idiocy.

And no, you didn't address any of the issues that I brought up. The Trump worshippers are generally lacking in intelligence (no offense intended), so they are unable to argue or discuss things intelligently. Therefore, they try to deflect and distract from the parts of the truth that make them look bad.

This has been fun. You’re obviously upset over Trump and the pubs inability to move on from him.
You also haven’t paid any attention to my posts on this subject.

Hate to a good poster go down a bad road.
Trump really has nothing to do with the simple point I made…libbies care more about white on black because it makes them feel better I suppose, about the racism stuff.
Libbies do not feel nor show that passion about black on black homicide. It’s easy to see…the libbies just parrot the msm and the media doesn’t care about the truth.
    Also,
I am not a trump guy.

Meanwhile, in reality, you will see substantial amount of energy dedicated to lowering homicide rates. For example, Baltimore just prevented (through a law suit settlement) one of the largest ghost gun manufacturers from selling to Maryland residents (extending to neighboring states) as they were selling the kits without regard to whether those residents were legally allowed to own guns. About 1/5 guns recovered in the city were ghost guns designed to bypass gun regulations.

Personally, the reason that I want to get rid of drug laws is because prohibition in regards to consumable substances has proven to be something that substantially increases homicide rates (see the massive increase in violence due to alcohol prohibition). I'd prefer people be able to sell products with the legal system as the dispute resolution system instead of guns (and utilizing taxes to counter-market the substances like we do for tobacco).

I also want to revamp gun laws around the notion of tracking and using data to monitor the illegal sales and movements of guns, something that is currently impossible with the law as it is.

So, since you are claiming that care, what would you actually do to lower homicide rates?

I’m a practical guy. I’d put up a big fence around cities like Baltimore and Chicago…and send in guys like Snake to regulate.

I believe some degree of enhanced gun sales/transfer control is needed. However, I recognize that today, all Americans have more or less the same access to guns, especially handguns; if someone wants a handgun it’s pretty easy to find one regardless of one’s financial/economic status.

The murder of an individual by another via handgun is the effect but what is the cause that brought about that murder ….. and why are there such differences in the rates of murder experienced by racial communities in the US? IE, why is a young black man so much more likely to be murdered (especially by another young black man) than a white or Asian. I know there is research at attempts to explain the reason(s) …… but what should the nation be doing to reduce those rates. Controlling the purchase/transfer of guns should have a positive impact but, what is driving the increase in murder rates and what can be done to reduce the need for one individual to murder another?

The murder rate isn't increasing. Let's start there. Murder rates have been falling for decades. The murder rate 30 years ago was a good 50% higher than it is now. Why do you think it is increasing?

But if you want to reduce it further, look at changing drug laws. Much of the murder in this country is between drug organizations fighting over territory, intellectual property, or providing security to their supply chains. Bring those markets into the legal system, and you will see a dramatic decrease in murders, as we did when prohibition ended. Stop fighting a war in America and being surprised when we get outcomes that look like wars.

I was looking at the data at this link. At page 7 it indicates gun homicide rates increase by 45% from 2019 to 2021. Perhaps I misread the analysis or the data is wrong?

I mean, that is pretty cherry picked. It fell for decades, went up a few years around the pandemic, and is now back to falling. Overall, homicide rates are way down.

True but only one of the two major political party is making the crime rate one of its main issues.

I know it seems unfair... during election season to bring this up, but this is an important subject that has to be addressed by both major political Partys. If not now then when is this subject brought up?

What was the rate of change from 2021 through 2023? Also, do you have any information as to the change in black-on-black murders for the same time period? Thanks
