I wouldn’t worry too much about who’s calling the plays and such. Every issue we had about the team, Napier has addressed. He values continuity and relationships over splash hires like Muschamp.
It is a little more than reorganization. This has been happening since Napier was hired. 11 and 14 speaks volumes. Analyst, and Co coaches, and any other title you can think of. Seems Napier has done less with more resources than any coach in recent memory.
So in other words, if Napier doesn’t recognize and address the problems with the team you blast him for doing nothing, and if he does recognize and address the problems and implements changes, you blast him for that too. That’s what you do. Why the snark? That’s why
Should see something even in the first half against Miami. Other than the scripted first series which for some reason works and then we stop doing whatever it was.
It's hard to read the tea leaves here, but I'm hoping for positive change. Let's hope all of this shuffling isn't for naught! With last years offense and a better defense, we win more games. If our defense improves and we can squeak more out of the offense, heck, that's a win too. Go Gators.
If you look at the support staff roster, Hocke is still on it. But, he doesn't have a job listed. Weird. As to the new OC: CBN could have "reorganized" with this move at any time last season, but didn't. If the idea is so great today, why wasn't it great then?
Hocke is now the Director of Motivation & Testing, @ 750k per. Apparently this move with Callaway was not all that organic. Several reports say that some other programs and teams from the league were checking in on him. He was the lowest paid assistant last year after being promoted from analyst, $300k. It will be interesting to see what kind of contract he received now.
Apparently, we are gonna get another Offensive Line coach. To be named soon...they're narrowing it down. Go Gators.
I wonder if part of our problem is muddy, overlapping responsibilities & the inevitable watering down of personal accountability.
As I said in a prior post on this same thread, the expected improvement of the offensive line (Center, Guards, Tackles) will bring a significant improvement on the execution of the blocking. This improvement will show gains in the running and the passing plays. It will also allow for Napier and his OC assistant to upgrade the strategies/plays. On another front, the improvement of the defense will limit the plays and scores of the opposing teams. This improvement will be a blessing for the Gator offensive game plan.
No. Napier is a genius. He has nothing left to prove after the last two seasons. Do you know anything about football?
