There’s doubts, no doubt. He needs 7 and that’ll do it. It’ll be hard to keep his job with only 5. It would take actually watching the season and how it went down. To me the team needs to take big steps forward and a win number doesn’t really explain it. The keystone cops act has to end.
The guys writing checks have the power. That big buyout has a lot of weight. That’s why it’s there in the first place.
He does indeed. But that buyout only protects Napier so far. If things get bad enough (and we all hope they don’t, of course), then I have zero doubt that either the hat gets passed around with vigor and/or pictures of Napier with a live boy or dead girl hit the internet.
It’s a big number though. I’m sure they wanted dumbo gone from A&M for quite awhile before the hat got full enough to sign the check.
If they want to make a move, they’ll make a move. I’ve never said anything to the contrary. If the move is made, I’ll support the new guy. Some will spend his entire tenure worried about nothing other than exactly how many wins and losses will get him fired.
Things don't go exactly as planned the first 2 years, and all these crybabies are ready to bail on CBN. So much anxiety, so much worry...
Ready to bail if the third season shows no improvement over the first two abysmal seasons, yes. Sorry to say. That’s business. Napier’s very generous pay comes with an expectation of performance. He needs to start earning it. And “exactly as planned,” seriously? He has had two losing seasons including two losses to Kentucky, a loss to Vanderbilt, and a loss to Arkansas at home. What precisely was the “plan” that the execution did not go “exactly” according to?
I believe you bailed on him already... None of the criers want to admit they bailed, just in case CBN out performs expectations in season 3 (which i think our team will do.)
No, if and when the time comes, you won’t have to believe I’ve bailed on Napier. I will make it very clear, just like I did with Muschamp. Until then, he can impress the hell out of me by preparing for Miami like it matters. I even have a template for success: whatever he did for eight months last year to get the team ready and angry for Utah; just do the opposite of that. Think we don’t need an on-field special teams coordinator? Do the opposite. Think you should have a two-headed monster to coach OL? Do the opposite. Think you don’t need to count the number of players or make sure there are not two wearing the same jersey number? Just do the opposite.
I'm mostly a casual observer on Swamp Gas these days, but even I know that @uftaipan has consistently pointed to year 3 results as a telling factor. I do not in any way believe that taipan has bailed on CBN already, but if you can quote something to the contrary, feel free.
Very few of the whiners (if any) believe we will win more than 6 games next year. Almost all of the whiners believe without a winning season, CBN should be terminated next year. If any of them were being honest, they wouldn't be afraid to come on here and give their true opinion. I don't see how you can come on a message board like this, blast most moves our head coach made and failed to make this off-season, post multiple times different future scenarios why he should be fired, and believe we will have a losing season next year.. while at the same time saying they haven't bailed on CBN. At least i don't need our Gators to lose to validate my opinion next year.
If he is who you think he is, then there will be a big turnaround this year, and we will all be happy. I predict nothing. I do demand we start seeing this process of his work better immediately.
And then there’s me who thinks 6-7 wins keeps his job if it passes the eye test. 8-9 would be an outstanding job.
Nobody likes it but to constantly cry is weak. We all see it and don’t need anyone to tell us the sky is blue daily.
