How do you take politics out of it and then ask about Biden fallout? It’s either pure stupidity or total insincerity. It’s obviously a political issue and I hope the dems bludgeon those cowards in Congress with it the rest of the year but they never focus on the right issues. So I’m sure republicans will make some completely disingenuous argument that Biden failed as commander in chief even though they literally prevented him from doing his job. So they’ll pivot from saying Ukraine is corrupt and not our friends to wringing their hands about how Biden abandoned poor Ukraine once Russia finally wins. Just normal putrid lying horseshit from modern republicans.

Russia won the war on February 24, 2022. The outcome was never in doubt. Some EU countries
are already discussing the resumption of rtrade with Russia.

Russia is decimating Ukraine,',s military..That:s their top priority, Russia is ledd interested in occupying and holding territory. The Ulrainian forces know they can't win amd are becoming reluctant to fight
They want a peace deal. The longer it takes for a ceasefire to happen the more danger Zelensky is in. The generals will eventually execute or imprison him.

The taking politics part out was to just set the record straight that we both know the aid is not coming. I mean, you don't fund a proxy war, pause, watch your benefactor take a bunch of losses because you stopped your aid and then resume it. I mean, that's just not how proxy wars or military aid works in general. So the aid isn't coming.

Fast forwarding and purely based on your assessment earlier (not mine), Ukraine will fold inside of a few months. So I think it's relevant to discuss what the fallout to President Biden will be if that happens, because it appears to me that is the most likely scenario as well. Which means: Russia will likely annex more territory in the meantime at ever increasing rates, Zelenskyy will be forced to call a truce on Putin's terms and it will look like a massive fail of an intervention by Washington.

I don't doubt Team Biden will try to make this the GOP's fault, but he won't succeed. This is his baby, clear back to 2014. In fact, at this stage (injecting politics back into it and being completely honest), the GOP would be stupid not to hang Biden out to dry in Ukraine. Their constituents are calling for an end, so they have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

The electorate will see through Biden's finger pointing, because they don't want us there in the first place. That's why the aid has stopped. If the public overwhelmingly supported this proxy war, you'd have plenty of GOP support. This is a disaster about to unfold and Biden will own it. The CIC isn't going to get away with blaming Congress for a war we were never going to win.

Ok so, bottom line, a majority of republicans want the war to end, largely because of a highly effective disinformation campaign, which has worked WONDERS. Independents are split, but when you look at the whole country, the last pew poll showed 47% support aid, 31% don't, and 22% don't know and that's when you don't account for party affiliation. Unfortunately, because their own party is against the war, again due to a disinformation campaign, republicans are able to sit on the purse strings and just wait till the clock runs out - JUST TO SCORE POLITICAL POINTS. So they are arguably hurting the security of the United States just so they can try to pin some shit on Joe Biden (and in some cases it may even be worse than that). That doesn't really surprise me - they're doing the same damn thing with the southern border. What is surprising, as smart as you pretend to be, that you don't see what is happening. Or maybe you do and you just don't care, it's hard to tell with modern republicans right now, especially now that their aspirations for ending democracy are out in the open (see CPAC).

It is not just to score political points. Ukraine wasn't winning anything when we were sending them aid. Why can't you just accept the position of not throwing good money after bad is probably shrewd in this instance? What's funny is the Dems are the ones typically screaming about cutting defense spending, but because ole man Biden has a (D) next to his name, they follow like lemmings. Republicans can point to where they gave it more than an honest attempt to work, plus the fact that it didn't work and thus they can easily make a sensible case for withholding more aid. It's not like this is humanitarian aid to feed the country. It's literally to fund a foreign war machine.

By your logic no one should have supported Vietnam against the United States or Afghanistan against Russia. It’s not black and white. It’s honestly in the us best interest for Russia to NOT win. That doesn’t mean they have to lose but it’s pretty clear with continued us assistance Ukraine can force a stalemate - and I’m tired of explaining the simple benefits of that geopolitically to freedom caucus republicans. Traditional republicans understand which is why the bill would pass easily if it ever reached the house floor. This legislation is being blocked by a minority that do not care about long term U.S. security interests or are too stupid to realize the gravity of their error in thinking.

Democrats are not usually warhawks it’s true, but I mean the logic is just really easy to see in this case and what is really troublesome to me is republicans that keep moving the goal posts. You all thought the war would be over in a second and keep doubling down on this idea that the result is a foregone conclusion so we should run away. I’ll take it a step further - the us should aggressively be preparing for war. Anyone that enjoys simple strategy can see this coming from a mile away. Our production of modern weapons must increase to the point where we can fight two near peers.

Sorry, propaganda-boy, I could identify Ukraine on a map prior to 2022. Apparently, you aren't a smart as you think you are (not a big surprise to the rest of us).

Avdiivka is not "Ukraine's greatest fortress city". It isn't really even a "fortress city". It was not built with the intention of being a defensive city. It just happens to be in a good location, and the buildings happen to be made of reinforced concrete, as are most of the multi-story buildings in Ukraine. The buildings happen to be relatively close together. This combination makes medium-sized cities easy for Ukraine to defend, especially against an incompetent army like Russia's with a WWII mentality (using "human meat waves" against Ukraine, for example). Avdiivka is about the same caliber of defensive city as Bahkmut. The only difference between the fights for the two cities is that Russia had Wagner, a fairly capable fighting force that led the charge with prisoners as bait, to advance against Bahkmut, but not Avdiivka. They had to wait for Ukraine to run low on ammo to take Avdiivka.

That's because you exclusively use propaganda sources for your information. One trick of your propaganda masters is to tell half the story, and pretend it's the whole story. If you were a historian (or a history major in college), you would know better. The U.S. supplied 400,000 trucks and jeeps to Russia during WWII, as well as 14,000 airplanes, 13,000 tanks and 8,000 tractors. We also sent 107,000 tons of cotton, 15 million pairs of army boots, 1.5 million blankets, 4.5 million tons of food, and 2.7 million tons of petroleum products.

One of the things that is often not discussed in terms of this aid was a secret weapon that allowed Russian tanks to operate in the coldest parts of winter: synthetic oil. Russia received it from the U.S., and Germany did not have it. Russian tanks could operate at -20 F, but German tanks could not. (Something one learns in a UF Metallurgy class.)

About 7% of the aid to Russia was lost to German submarines.

America sent gear to the USSR to help win World War II

What did the Russians have to say about this aid?
England also sent some material and equipment to Russia early in the war, but not nearly as much as the U.S.

sounds like another win for the good guys. taking out these production facilities is so much better and cheaper than intercepting the incoming missiles.

Huge Explosion Seen in Southern Russia Speculated To Be At State-run Military Research Center (msn.com)

An explosion rocked southern Russia, prompting concerns over the status of a Russian defense manufacturing plant in Siberia. The incident, reported early Thursday, has raised questions about the extent of damage and potential implications for the region.

Reports suggest the explosion occurred at a state-run military research center in Biysk, owned by Russian space agency Roscosmos. The facility, known as the Federal Research and Production Center in Altai, specializes in manufacturing ammunition and rocket engine components.

According to Russian sources, the Federal Research and Production Center focuses on developing cutting-edge technologies and manufacturing military hardware. Its role in bolstering Russia’s military capabilities has been highlighted amid ongoing tensions in the region.

Russia down to 6 AWACS in their entire air force

Russia Only Has Six A-50 Spy Planes Left: Kyiv (msn.com)

The Russian military allegedly has only a handful of its prized A-50 spy planes left after recent losses, according to Ukrainian defense official Kyrylo Budanov on Sunday.

The Beriev A-50 plane, also known by the NATO reporting name "Mainstay," is an airborne early warning and control jet used by Russia to help monitor Ukraine's air defenses. The aircraft typically fly with a crew of up to 15 personnel and are estimated to cost over $300 million to produce. The Russian military currently deploys a modernized version of the plane, known as the A-50U, which, among other things, replaces the original craft's analog systems with digital ones for faster signal tracking and target detection.

On Friday, the Ukrainian Air Force claimed that it had shot down an A-50U craft over the Sea of Azov near the city of Primorsko-Akhtarsk, the second one of the prized spy planes that Kyiv had claimed responsibility for destroying this year. Despite those claims from Ukrainian officials, however, Russian military bloggers later claimed that the craft was accidentally brought down by "friendly fire."

ISW says that Russia had 47,000 casualties in Avdiivka. The heavy losses caused at least one Russian military blogger to kill himself. That doesn't seem to support the idea that Russia is winning this war.

More Russian soldiers have likely died seizing Avdiivka than in the entire Soviet-Afghan war, ISW says

Ukraine's drones found a Russian warehouse full of equipment in southeastern Ukraine and destroyed a rare BMPT "Terminator" tank, two T-72 tanks, an IFV, and multiple military trucks. Russia only had ten BMPT tanks at the start of the war.

Footage appears to show Ukrainian drones destroying prized Russian armor, including a rare 'Terminator' tank, left in an unlocked warehouse
