Whelp...let's hope that makes a difference on the field. But this new designation, does that mean he will have input, or does that mean he will simply implement what the coach wants? I wonder if he'll get more $? I guess we'll see if anything looks different during the Spring game. I sure hope we see Lagway tossing the ball around the ole stadium-that'll look different. Getting Lagway involved could actually help bring in some five star kids. Anyway, congrats to Callaway! Heck, we only have six months till the season starts. Go Gators.
Tight ends coach... hmm... I wonder how many times he gets us in the 12 personnel offensive set. Does he "evolve" into a 13 and a 14 offensive personnel set? Or is he going bold and maybe adding a 22 personnel set too? Lol... I would honestly not mind those personnel sets, but... could we add the 10 and the 00 personnel sets too?
I mean unless something has changed it's a promotion in name only as Napier is the one calling the plays. I don't doubt Callaway is a pretty solid assistant who pulls his pulls his weight on the recruiting trail.
I agree with your comments in general. I believe that Napier is too smart to create a figurehead position. Two things need to happen to improve the offensive strategy for the Gators. Get the Gator offensive line (center, guards, tackles) coached up and to perform at an acceptable or higher level. This was not happen last season. The lack of execution and skill, limited what Napier wanted to do. With the upgraded Gator offensive line, the new offensive brain trust will be more than confident in upgrading the strategy.
Is Chris Couch still in charge of our unspecial teams? Are we going to address what is one of the most obvious failures last year AND this year or going to roll with year three of no punt, kick blocks (or any pressure for that matter), no returns and a season of fair catches inside our own 5 yard line? Hopefully Russ puts it together and knows how to properly run a two minute offense, properly execute a trick play and keep the foot on the pedal up 3 and for gods sake...if we dont see significant improvement here we know who is still actually running the offense.
If it means no more unnecessary "double reserve passes" or "Halfback pass on 4th", then I'll be satisfied. Is Coach bringing in another OL coach? Or does Callaway take that open spot
Will be interesting to see if our Wr routes change. Would be nice to see some routes like Chiefs and Dolphins specifically designed to overload areas and create open receivers.
