Diminished and Confused - Is Trump OK?

I hate to admit you are right.

 

I suspect it's the incorrect statement that Biden has dementia. You apparently do not know what that is or how it is manifested. As I've said, neither candidate has dementia. Both show normal signs of aging, but neither shows signs of an inability to govern because of age. I underscored the last part because Trump clearly shows an almost complete lack of ability to govern maturely. His expressed agenda is revenge and to crush the Democratic Party.

 

The sad thing is it really doesn’t matter because Biden is so old he has trouble with memory and articulating coherently so that basically cancels out any of Trumps incoherence.

 

I would vote for him in a heartbeat.

 

There is no doubt she is a smart, rational and accomplished person who I’d certain take probably over either. I do have to say she has a streak of not being able to be reflective about the past. She was interviewed in the last year and was asked re Iraq war and she still defends it. She was asked to “steel man” the other side of that issue and basically dodged the question. She did the same thing 20 years ago in the 9/11 commission. I don’t trust her as being totally honest.

 

At this point I’d take him, but his negatives are:

- In his debate with DeSantis he came off as arrogant and somewhat petty

- while he is certainly a pragmatist compared to CA liberals, nonetheless he has probably supported more left leaning policies than most voters would support.

- between his slick politician look and his dumb decision to have a party at a restaurant in the middle of Covid shutdowns, it just makes him look like an elitist and less than genuine politician.

 

He is no doubt a bit arrogant (Hard not to be when DeSatan is across from you) and an elitist but then I don’t necessarily find those bad traits. I suppose it’s the matter of degree and his degree isn’t that high. I mean he married Kimberly Guilfoyle (I know she was hot then) how elitist can he be?

 

I disagree with this. I’m 80 and don’t have those problems (except occasionally failing to recall a name), and neither do my group of friends of similar age, one of whom is a retired neurologist who specialized in dementia. Besides, the deficiencies you list are not nearly as important as life experiences and wisdom.

You may chalk up my observation as the prejudice of an 80 YO.

When he has his moment of completely forgetting what he is saying or starts to walk off randomly from the podium? Guess that’s just normal.

My grandpa is 89 years old and doesn’t have any of those problems. Talks perfectly normal. He still goes dancing at a German club every Friday and Saturday.

 

I’m saying every 80 year old. I’m saying Biden. He clearly has lost a step listening to him, and the special prosecutor noticed some significant cognitive gaps. I suspect they arent as bad as they look but I shudder to think what he will look like at at 85.

The point is Bidens age basically negates, at least to some that may be indifferent between the two, the cognitive and other issues Trump has. In 2016 Bill Clinton’s history with women kind of negated Trumps women issues. It really shouldn’t have but it did.

I don’t think anybody who may otherwise vote for Trump, is going to vote for Biden because Trump is slurring his speech occasionally.

 

There is no outward evidence Biden has dementia. He does appear to be suffering from cognitive decline which isn’t uncommon. It is exascerbated with him given his history of stuttering.

 

Do any of us know exactly what is considered dementia? What’s the threshold between not having it and having it?

 

While Biden doesn't have the energy or mental acuity when he was 40, he has immense knowledge of world politics and history and uses it effectively on policy and achieving legislative goals. Few other president's can point to the same productivity in legislative victories in a first term, with infrastructure, CHIPS, and alternative energy initiatives for long-term economic growth. His foreign policy strengthened allied relationships and world leaders see him as a stabilizing force against Putin and Xi. Having Biden with 4 more years and flipping the House, would keep the country on the right track.

He has virtually ever sign of dementia but let's pretend it's just normal for the president of the US to be like this.

 

He is also a fantastic liar and hypocrite, so he should be perfect for the White House. I would vote for him tomorrow over any of the other idiots being put forth by the two parties.

 

Don't care that he is running huge deficits in his state?

 

It’s the nature of the economy and the tax base. There is a huge amount of wealthy people, venture capitalists entrepreneurs and techies in CA (unlike red states) and they invest heavily in equities and other investment vehicles. When the markets take a dive the revenue base gets whacked. Converse during good times. In June of 22 when this budget was drawn up they were coming off a $98B budget surplus thanks to the flash rebound after the initial phase of Covid.. The error was in assuming that revenue would continue at that level annd spending accordingly. Indeed as I can attest stocks started tanking right out of the gate in 2022.

One thing I can tell you - next fiscal year the budget surplus will make your eyes bleed.

As it stands now over the past two fiscal years Newsom has presided over a net $29B surplus. Not too shabby.

 

Big time...heads would literally explode.

 

And he's running a huge deficit...fits right in.
