You're too kind, my friend. I just love exchanging opinions and information on all our sports. Others have way more inside knowledge of Gator softball than I. Scrappy for sure, but notexgator, sandman and a few others "learn" me things on a regular basis. :D

You're a funny guy, Wingtee. I wish more posters were like you. Taking ourselves so seriously and think what we post really matters. But you know better and say everything with a wink and a nod. Love it.

It's a Friday night showdown between nationally ranked #2 LSU and #5 UF:

Nation’s Top Dual of the Weekend is Friday: No. 2 LSU at No. 5 Florida - Florida Gators

I expect the meet to come down to the last performances. It's not often the UF/LSU rivalry disappoints. If the Gators score 198+, I like our chances. I'm hoping LSU's Mr. Hyde shows up on beam instead of Dr. Jeckyl who set a program beam high last week at home.

Nothing much on the line except the loser is out of the SEC regular season championship which has been awarded every year since 2017. No other team outside of UF and LSU has won the SEC regular season, but Kentucky is in the running.

Should UF upset LSU, there will be a winner take the SEC Championship showdown in Lexington on Sunday, March 3, at 2 PM ET between UF and UK to win the outright SEC Championship. This provided both UF and UK win this week with UK in an away meet at Arkansas.

The meet will be televised by ESPN 2 at 7 PM ET with Bart Connor and Bridget Sloan on the call.

Last year in Baton Rouge LSU beat us 198.100 - 197.975. We only scored under 197.700 twice all year in 2023 - 197.325 in beating Alabama and 197.400 in the NCAA Semifinals, still advancing to the Final 4, where we got eeked out by Oklahoma for the national title. This should be an excellent match between 2 great gymnastics programs and we may need to break the 198 mark to win it, as LSU has already done it 3 times this year.

College Gym News: The Mount - Week 8 Predictions.

The Mount: Predictions, Picks, and Other Things to Know Ahead of Week 8 - College Gym News

CGN has LSU on Upset Alert:

Me? Split on vault and bars, win beam, and score 49.600 on floor, regardless of floor winner, could have Gator fans going home happy with an upset win.

    Upset Alert

    LSU at Florida
    Friday, Feb. 23 at 7 p.m. ET | ESPN2

    Prediction: 66.83% LSU, 33.17% Florida

With NQS kicking in soon, there are actual stakes in play beyond conference pride. LSU needs a strong road score to maintain its place at the top of the SEC, as both Florida and Kentucky are hot on its heels (and the rest of the conference isn’t too far behind).

On paper, LSU has the advantage. The Tigers have broken 198 three times this season, including a 198.475 from week five that currently stands as the top score in the country. The problem is that they have yet to replicate those scores on the road. Meanwhile, the Gators’ biggest season high—a 197.925—came last weekend at Texas Woman’s. They’re also the only SEC team whose scores have increased each week. That steady ramp-up plus a return to the O’Dome could be enough to tip the scales in Florida’s favor.

Additional notes about the predictions: While LSU has a two in three chance of winning this meet, Florida can definitely still pull off the win, with 17% of our simulations coming down to less than a tenth. If the Gators post the higher score on any one event, this becomes a 50/50 matchup, and doing so on two events gives them a 70% chance. While the Gators can control their own destiny here, a sub-49 rotation on any event for LSU will also give Florida an 80 to 85% chance of winning.

GREAT start. Seems we were a tad over scored & the judges were pretty hard on LSU on the bars. We'll see how consistent they are.
