Just heard it on SEC Reaction podcast. These guys do a great job and they talked about Riley Kugel being sick and on antibiotics. That is why he didnt play that much. I didnt realize that and it makes more sense now.
Thanks. I didn't think it was his performance. Must have tried to give it a go but didn't have anything in the tank.
I had the flu a month ago and I felt like I was dying. Drove myself to the ER and I NEVER go to the ER. The last previous time I went to the ER I had and emergency appendictomy. but I had the Influenza B. Was far worse than the two times I had covid. Go RILEY!! Get well soon!
Lol..welp..I work in the ER one weekend a month as a clinical pharmacist (Naval Base M-F is my other job). Being sick sucks man..had COVID twice as well, the flu, strep throat but nothing and I mean nothing was as bad as the time I had "Hand, foot, mouth." Mostly kids get that disease but I promise as an adult it was the WORSE. Lol.
Aberdeen is PG and Riley is a combo SG/SF. We essentially play three guards as our starting line up (Clayton, Richard, Pullin). Subbing in Riley for Richard or Clayton makes sense. Subbing in Aberdeen for either of those guys doesn't make sense to me. Aberdeen to give Pullin a break does but Riley for Pullin makes no sense unless you want Clayton to run point.
I definitely wouldn't. He's shooting 23% from 3 and aside from the Baylor game, he's shooting 17% from 3.
I couldn’t figure out why he got pulled, bc there didn’t seem anything egregious. So, I went back and watched his segment. He was totally disengaged… didn’t get off his feet for rebounds; didn’t get on the floor for a loose ball. Those actions… or inactions… make more sense if he was sick. He just didn’t seem to have anything; didn’t seem in it whatsoever.
We don’t have enough of a sample size from Denzel to know how he will do, but I like his handle, I like that he can score at the rim, I like the form on his shot, and he looks solid to me on defense. We do have a large sample size on Riley. Looking at Riley’s advanced stats, here is how he stacks up in our 8-man rotation: True Shooting % - 8th Effective FG% - 8th Turnover % - 7th Offensive Win Shares - 8th Defensive Win Shares - 7th Win Shares - 8th Win Shared per 40 Minutes - 8th Offensive Box Plus/Minus - 8th Defensive Box Plus/Minus - 7th Box Plus/Minus - 8th It’s pretty apparent that Riley is playing the worst of everyone in the rotation. However, he is better than Denzel in most of these categories, although Denzel is 2nd behind Zyon in Turnover %. I would give Denzel a shot to see what he can do.
Aberdeen is a big and strong kid. There is no reason that he can’t sub in for any of the 3 starting guards.
I like Aberdeen a lot. At this point, however, Riley can have much more impact on a game than Denzel when he is clicking. Riley can give you 25 points on any given night. I don't think Denzel is quite there yet.
I like to give Brent a hard time every now and then . Truth is, he probably posts from his phone quite often, which means that spelling is optional.
