He has the best chance of beating Trump. The democrats need the blandest most boring possible candidate to entice independents and moderates. Everyone else on their side that is ready for the national stage is an instant no from independents and moderates.
Biden is not mentally incompetent. No one who knows him makes that accusation. The comments from the right are just partisan BS. Neither is Trump. He just speaks in a stream of consciousness, spewing nonsensical invective at any- and everyone who crosses him. He embarrasses the country. That he’s incapable of being embarrassed underscores how despicable he is.
What’s wrong with Newsom? Presides over world’s 5th largest economy. Smart, attractive, very good hair, well spoken. He’s right out of central casting. Certainly a better gov than Ray Gun

Someone reported seeing a Pritzker/Whitmer for President bumper sticker. Don't know how that would happen.
Although both are cognitively diminished one of the two has serious psychological problems on top of his cognitive shortfall and that same candidate thinks that he knows everything about everything in addition to strong authoritarian tendencies unlike his opponent who actually listens to his advisors.
I'd been hoping Newsom would jump in. He would be the most charismatic presidential candidate since Obama. Very intelligent. Pritzker is highly competent but he's not quite as telegenic and I'm not sure the US is any more ready for a Jewish president than a gay president.
With the candidates presented, I am grateful to be an Independent so I need not be embarrassed by the best of what my party has to offer.
