It's called statecraft. You can't just go directly to combat operations with everyone you oppose... especially peers like Russia and China. That would be catastrophic. You think they'd just allow us to attack them and the war wouldn't reach American soil? There's a reason we don't attack them and they don't attack us.

What makes you think Trump would send Ukraine anything? If that's true, why didn't Trump telling pubs in congress to pass the aid bill now? They do what he tells them to.

When Trump says he'd end the war in the day, do you think he envisions he'd talk Russia into giving up and pulling out? Or that he'd talk Ukraine into accepting the loss of territory? I think he means the latter, even though there is a 0% change that either nation would agree to Trump's solution.

I understand what you are saying and respect your opinion as for the service you have dedicated to this country. And no, I don't believe go full combat right away, but the threat I may, would have a chilling effect. Can you confidently say that you think this administration is showing strength and any country in this world is concerned with what kind of response they may authorize?

This Administration is showing a lot of strength. It's the Republicans in Congress who are showing weakness. As far as the threat of attacking Russia, I doubt they believe Trump would, because regardless of whether it's Trump or Biden in office a direct attack by Russia or the USA against the other would be met with the same retaliation.

ITT: A Trump supporter goes to great lengths to explain the lack of critical thinking he applies when considering political opinions.

Putin said he prefers Biden? Must be true!
Trump says he'd end the war in 24 hours? Clearly we could have stopped this war long ago if someone had just had the balls to say "Stop it, you two."

The administration is showing a lot of folly.

And the Republicans have been mostly complicit.

I would also add that the same guy openly stated that he would ignore Article 5 of the NATO Treaty and went so far as to suggest that if Russia invaded a member of NATO the US would sit on the sidelines if he were president. FYI: This is the text of
    NATO Treaty.
    Article 5
The Parties agree that an armed attack against one or more of them in Europe or North America shall be considered an attack against them all and consequently they agree that, if such an armed attack occurs, each of them, in exercise of the right of individual or collective self-defence recognised by Article 51 of the Charter of the United Nations, will assist the Party or Parties so attacked by taking forthwith, individually and in concert with the other Parties, such action as it deems necessary, including the use of armed force, to restore and maintain the security of the North Atlantic area.

Any such armed attack and all measures taken as a result thereof shall immediately be reported to the Security Council. Such measures shall be terminated when the Security Council has taken the measures necessary to restore and maintain international peace and security .

Trump’s ideas sounds a recipe for WWIII, if Europe decides to amp up its help to Ukraine and Putin tests Trump by firing a couple of missiles into a NATO nation…. Either NATO ends that day or WWIII is on …

Trump's solution to ending the war in Ukraine is based on the model set by Neville Chamberlain in 1938 when Chamberlain acquiesced to Hitler's occupation of the Sudetenland. Didn't work out very well for Europe or the rest of the world for that matter.

Trump wanted to cut off aid to Ukraine before the war ever happened and then went on about what a brilliant move it was for Putin to invade Ukraine. what would ever make you think Trump would send more aid to Ukraine.

We agree that Biden drug his feet with aid and types of aid but now the pubs are cutting ukraine off at the knees.

This column in Tuesday's NY Times by Tom Friedman says it all about the Trump/Republican policy toward Ukraine.
I’ve got a suggestion for the next Trump-G.O.P. fund-raising scheme. You know how sports memorabilia stores sometimes sell basketballs autographed by an entire N.B.A. team? Well, I was imagining that Donald Trump could sell white flags at $1,000 a pop that say, “We surrendered Ukraine to Russia,” autographed by him and the House and Senate MAGA sycophants he’s assembled to deny Ukrainians the weapons they need to stave off Vladimir Putin’s onslaught.

For an extra $500, you could get a white flag autographed solely by Trump and J.D. Vance and emblazoned with Vance’s immortal words, “I don’t really care what happens to Ukraine.” Or one signed by House Speaker Mike Johnson, big enough to sum up his worldview: I was for Ukraine aid until I was against it, but I could be for it again if Trump is not against it. This is a matter of principle for me. Either way, it’s all Biden’s fault.

And then the ultimate collector’s item. For an extra $1,000, a giant white surrender flag, made from the softest Sea Island cotton, signed by Lindsey Graham, that says: “I gave up the principles of John McCain and a free Ukraine because Trump told me to. But I got a round of golf at Trump’s West Palm Beach course. Can I still be on ‘Meet the Press’?”

Exclusive: Russia-linked smear campaign against Hunter Biden began earlier than previously thought (msn.com)

    • A former KGB agent gave disinformation about Hunter Biden to an aide for Mike Pompeo in May 2019.
    • The agent also presented the same disinformation to Justice Department officials in January 2019.
    • The presentation is the earliest known instance of a Russia-linked source pushing such allegations.

A thumb drive handed by a foreign national to an aide traveling with then-Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in 2019 suggests efforts by Russia-linked actors to influence the 2020 US presidential election with Hunter Biden disinformation began earlier and were broader in scope than has previously been reported.

According to two sources with direct knowledge of the incident, a thumb drive containing poorly sourced allegations about Hunter Biden and his work for Burisma, a Ukrainian energy company, was thrust into the hands of one of Pompeo's aides at the conservative Claremont Institute's 40th-anniversary gala in Beverly Hills on May 11, 2019. The man pushing the thumb drive was a citizen of an Eastern European country and a guest of Claremont. He was also, for a time, an FBI confidential informant with the code name "Rollie." His true name is known to Business Insider, which is identifying him only as Rollie in order to protect sources who provided information for this story.

so instead of recognizing that the goal of defaming Hunter to hurt Joe and help Trump is a russian op from the beginning you want to believe that it was actually an anti-trump agenda? wow...

what I wonder is how many viruses or malware were on the thumb drive that they took and plugged into their gubmnt computers.

Well you are spot on!! I once bought a mask during COVID with Trump and the bird finger, but other than that haven't contributed or purchased anything else. Yes, I get taken advantage of quite regularly, it is why I come to THFSG to know what I need to do. You guys seem to always know which guys to believe in what they are saying and then know when they are saying something not true and then on top of that be able to tell exactly what these guys are thinking. I am so thankful I have a place like this with so many smart people to inform me on everything from the past, current and the future. Since the arrival of so many good smart guys here I have become much less gullible. This thread and link to what the man actually said was an overstep by me. I thought I was starting to get it, but obviously I still don't have the knack of many of you knowing how to listen to the words coming out of their mouth and be able to determine the veracity of the words. I'm trying11 I really am![IMG]
