Y Yes it turns players into mercenaries, which is literally the opposite of what college sports is supposed to represent, IMO…if no affiliation with the school why am I cheering for them? Much less loyalty to us as a school so why the loyalty to them as alumni / fans
So this is a donation system but players can compete for the largest donation since they aren't allowed to be paid to play.
It's an interesting question. The players are not gov employees, but they do benefit from the opportunity to represent a gov agency. Faculty salaries, for example, are all a public matter of record. I recognize that the players are not paid by the school, but again their opportunity is a result of their participation in a sport sponsored/hosted by the school/gov agency. In the end, their NIL pay is probably not analogous to that of a public servant and should not be a matter of public record, but it gives one pause.
yup. Prather is one of my all time favorites bc it was so fun to watching him become the player he did. There would be flashes, and then it all clicked. It was awesome to see.
CP one of my all-time sentimental favorite Gator hoopsters. I always felt that when he exploded for a dunk @ UK, it was the moment that he came alive as a player. He even started making threes after that. One of the most athletic Gators and a quiet, understated kinda kid.
with the limtied pT that he got, I would see Aberdeen leaving. Hopefully, CTG's ability in the portal will be on-going and will bring in another ZP and another big from HS. Hpe Kugel stays tiht the high upside that he has, but only if he gets his head on straight. RE: NIL being public, that could cause such a locker room nightmare. Someone said that Kugel is our highest paid guy, but there are 7 guys that are more valuable to the team.
Yes agree though preseason his hype was warranted, and they all probably feel bad for him in some way and hope he gets back to his old self from last year. On the transfer front, Portal God Todd will do just fine
Hopefully we take care of business early and have a nice lead late in the 2nd, can play deep into the bench
