A little young and inexperienced. He was an intern at TN 5 years ago. Think it is a reach but agree you are not going to find a quality experienced coach that would leave a top program in the middle of S&C season. Also leaving stability for risk of BN surviving 3 losing seasons in a row. Not likely. Also having players change their training regiment midstream would appear counterproductive at this time.
He wasn’t the first choice but hopefully the right choice. Napier gets roasted for learning on the job and all that so wanting an established guy is understandable. I hope this guy should’ve had the job in the first place. People learn how to perform brain surgery in that amount of time. It can’t be that complicated to do his job. Let’s hope he has what it takes. Sink or swim time for all of them.
I remember Savage being popular with players. It seems like he is a solid S&C coach, so I don't think players advocating for Miles is a bad thing. At any rate, what's done is done so we will find out.
Muschamp's S&C took a lot of heat with Olympic lifting and was pointed at as the reason for so many injuries in his tenure (scapegoat?)
Wanne- S&C- I agree. It can't be too hard. But being a winning football coach in the SEC must be 100x times harder than brain surgery. Since there are quite a few brain surgeons but how many winning football coaches in the SEC? Not many... (Winning meaning winning titles, not just above .500.)
It is what it is. If this is the best we can get, so be it. Let’s see some results in the win column.
Number one requirement is management... Your own time, staff, equipment, players... Tons of details. But the best have a lot of energy and fire. A passion to make their team the strongest and toughest.
if he was the right person why didn't Napier go to him right away instead of hiring someone else. This was just the best we could do because we got left high and dry. Need to hope for the best but getting thrown in to the fire as head S&C at an SEC program with no prior experience might not work out well. Crossing my fingers that the guy with the most contact with the players turns out to be that diamond in the rough we love to seek.
Really skink you don’t hope he works out? Shame on you Debbie downer. Shame on you too Claygator. You all should really try and see the good in this promotion. smh
When Schmidt won a title with UF as S&C, Stoops took him to Oklahoma where he changed their program. When Mickey won at UF, Urban took him to OSU and changed their program.
What in the world are you talking about? Read the first three sentences of your post, criticizing Napier for not hiring this guy in the first place; that is what Skink and I were disliking. Buffoon.
