You guys crack me up. After Washington almost all of our presidents were hated by half the nation. The few exceptions came in war time when the nation rallied. Great presidents dont mean great approval records. Biden will hold up very well in history. He came into an administration where the former guy who broke almost every norm in leadership tried to install himself leader through a procedural coup that turned into a violent insurrection. Biden took that challenge, stayed above the fray, and moved forward generational change in legislation in a bipartisan manner with perhaps the most dysfunctional political party in modern era. Biden has kept America out of the wars brewing in the world, strengthened our allied relationships, steered the economy back on course, heeled the infection from the populous, and has been dignified. He has surpassed my expectations and earned himself a respected place in history whether it be #10 or #20 is up for argument.
You are endlessly silly. Someone with wide popularity doesn't get 81M people to show up to vote against him. I don't think pettiness, punching down and racism/misogyny/xenophobia are traditional leadership qualities. Helping to craft a plan to stay in office after losing was pretty controversial. He was the exact opposite of a unifier. Got anything else to be wrong about this morning?
It's fine if you don't think Biden has been great because of your ideology. However, it's simply not credible to try and rate him at the bottom. He's done many good things and gotten little credit for them because the MSM has to have a "Trump and Biden are the same" storyline to push for ratings.
His grand accomplishment is literally “turns out when you stop forcing people to sit at home, and quit paying them to do nothing, a lot of them will go back to work.”
Take that up with Trump. We had 6 months of 2021 where there was debate under Biden on too fast or too slow - most of that shutdown was on Trump. That was years ago and we have record employment, record GDP, and a near record participation rate in 25-55 year old workers. You left off your congratulations to Biden for the Infrastructure Bill Republicans are taking credit for in their home districts despite voting against. Or the manufacturing boom that has happened under Biden, not Trump, with the CHIPS bill. We are just now seeing the Medicare negotiations savings passed in the inflation reduction bill. The Republicans are so concerned about Biden's successful record they shot themselves in the foot on immigration reform just to say he didnt do it. LOL. Keep dreaming your dream pal.
Yes, the global pandemic and shut down (which Biden continued despite the release of the vaccine just before he came into office) of the country which Trump largely left to the states is on Trump. The rest of that post on Biden’s record looks like it came straight out of Biden’s PR team, or MSNBC… but hey they’re basically one and the same.
We navigated through an unprecedented pandemic and persevered through it. In fact, no first world nation has recovered like we have. Almost all the debate on shut downs occured in 2020 with just school returning to normal discussion in 2021. We are well over that and the economy is killing it. Only morons would be talking about ground zero response to a pandemic still and thinking the economy is still the same struggling economy Trump passed to Biden. But there are a lot of morons. I like how you have zero response to the accomplishments other than to call me a shill for pointing out facts.
The economy is not “killing it.” 1. Views of the nation’s economy 28% of Americans think the economy is “excellent or good.” 44% of Democrats think the economy is “excellent or good.” The economy has improved since the pandemic, which is about as impressive as saying “people who started working after everything was shut down for about two years are experiencing better outcomes.”
Biden taking credit for the economy would be kind of like the Sheriff of Nottingham taking credit for giving the poor money. He’d be taking credit for taking peoples money and livelihood away from them, then giving it back to them.
Let me put it plainly. If you aren’t doing well now it is on you. Unemployed? The market is at its peak. Investments? Higher values than ever. Home equity? Records. If you are struggling now you always were and the GOP has zero policies for you.
“Pick yourself up by the bootstraps?” Good luck telling that to 72% of the country and 56% of Democrats.
I’m not a Trump fan, but it’s more than a little disingenuous to suggest that Trump gave Biden a shitty economy and Biden somehow fixed it between pudding cups. The economy was cooking for most of Trump’s term, unsurprisingly went in the crapper when we insisted that everyone had to stop going to work and hide in their basements, and equally unsurprisingly recovered when we told people that they could go back to normal lives instead of huddling at home. Crediting Biden with turning the economy around is roughly the same as a zookeeper catching a running cheetah, putting it in a tiny cage, then opening the cage door back up and yelling “wow, look how fast I made that cheetah run!”
I don't agree but I can at least partially concede that the end of the pandemic helped Biden. However, despite dire warnings of a recession every 5 minutes, the economy keeps humming along at record rates. At some point, that's not the pandemic's end driving it and Biden should get some credit for what's happening. One of the heights of regularly scheduled comedy is watching the Foxbots have to cover the jobs reports when they are expecting bad numbers and instead they hit yet another high mark.
Another chucklehead take. Here is why the American people feel that way: 1. The MSM constantly telling them everything is bad when it isn't because they want a horse race this November. 2. Greedflation due to price gouging by corporations so their CEOs can get buy their 4th yacht that they had to hold off on buying in 2020.
You’ve chosen to live as a libbie and I’m assuming that’s been for your entire life. Nothing else I could say to make you look any worse…
1. The economy turned around because the Fed intentionally engineered a recession to get inflation under control. Once that happened and the Fed pulled back, it led to an economic boom. Reagan was simply the beneficiary of being in the right time and place, while Carter ate shit for doing what was best for the country. 2. You could make these same national mood points for Obama. 3. I'm not sure how it started a 40-year economic uptrend. We had multiple recessions over those 40 years, including an absolutely massive one in 2008, which was partly a result of policies pushed by Reagan (and Clinton and Bush). 4. Reagan worked against the Carter administration to keep the hostages in Iran so he could claim it as a victory! If that's an accomplishment for him, oh boy. You're welcome to go to the mat for Reagan. I don't see an enduring legacy outside of Republican politics. What do I see was an administration that did a lot of harmful and scandalous things. The bad outweighed any good. Yep, that's influenced by my political ideology, but it's also influenced by my humanity. As for one's ideological lens, we're all human. We all have our biases. You can pretend yours don't influence your perspective, but that just comes off as naive.
Biden has gotten a good number of bills through Congress, particularly given his slim majority. His grand accomplishment is probably getting the sorely needed infrastructure bill passed that Presidents have been promising for decades.
