No, we have an NIL problem because football is the only sport not to offer a pro option out of HS. That's the No. 1 reason the USSC ruled the way it did. They even stated as much. But, again, it's the non-profit who is the bad guy, not the for-profit model that profits heavily off the current model. That said, i's going to be fun in about 2-4 years when the NFL starts crying about the lack of talent and training coming out of college. Don't think so? Just wait.

Or, do it like Europe and combine the two. Everything from Pee Wee to Pro all within one organization. You can charge money or give out scholarships/contracts. One great thing about this is it would destroy IMG and parasites like them.
The big lawsuit was started by basketball players. All this NIL stuff is much bigger than Football. We have athletes in non revenue sports with 6 and 7 figure deals.
Personal Services Contracts. The value is in the eyes of the check writer. So call it a "retainer" for future services. Nothing illegal about that. . . even though we all know it's just boosters paying for players. That said, how long will this last? It's one thing to be the big shot handing out $500 handshakes. Quite another to be yet another mark on a call-center lead sheet. Not to mention, boomers make up the vast majority of booster donations and half of them are already in retirement. I could definitely see a scenario where the playoff TV money is so good that this doesn't matter and the game just becomes that much more professional.
American Way would be the European Way. Pure Capitalism. Everything is pay-to-play, all the way down to youth teams. You seem to want something more Socialist. I.E. government stepping in to make it better/fairer rather than just letting the markets take control.
Not necessarily. Soccer players are unionized to a degree in Europe, but all contracts are between the team and player, including restrictions, etc. There is no "union takes half". When you move teams, you sign a new contract with the team you are joining. And you can choose to leave or choose to just keep getting paid based on your current contract. Like I said before, open capitalism. Want to negotiate with my player? Here's my (transfer) fee. Meet it and you can talk to the player.
All those folks are boomers and half of them are already retired. This IS going to dry up for the reasons I mentioned earlier and the ones you mentioned.
Not at all. We have the Laws we have, and every other Sports seems to be able to make rules that comply for every citizen in the country. College football wants to make their own rules and they can abide by them if they like it like this.
I'm glad you brought that up. We need states to take action to fix that injustice and discriminating against 18 young men that want to play in the NFL. At the very lease let them try out and if they fail they should be allowed to compete in the XFL.

Should someone have to be trained for a few years before they can work for me? I would benefit from such a program but as of now I have to pay $20 an hour to train greenhorns and I hope I never have to do it again. They just basically watch me work for a couple years before they are capable of generating what I pay them. By year three, they should be making me money. Maybe I could get football to train them for me?
They should be aloud to be drafted period. That’s discrimination and should be illegal. It’s the root of the money that is rotting college football. Just look the other way and pretend Fred Taylor wasn’t paid 50k thirty years ago in our pretty little Rudy game.
I openly would advocate for a kids right out of high school to have some way to get into the NFL or the XFL... However, I will never support an semi-professional "student" athlete that can legally unionize and collectively bargain for TV or other media revenue streams directly from a college or university. If they want to receive payments then we all know that the SCOTUS told them how it's to be done in college athletics. And that is through their NAME LIKENESS AND IMAGE, which is NOT direct payments... nor employment to or from any college or university. That is outside money that is NOT related to revenue a school receives from sports media deals.
Exactly what I just said... I have no idea what you're talking about with regard to payments Fred Taylor received... but I can assure you that it was NOT money directly from the University of Florida. Now, the SCOTUS has settled the NIL and how student athletes can earn an income, and as I have said before the NFL should let high school seniors or over 18 year olds into the NFL, and so should the XFL.
