I would say precisely what it looked like in the past once it was clear our coach was not up to the task as Muschamp wasn’t. Fan noise absolutely played a role in leading to his dismissal. Now, as I’ve said repeatedly on here, I don’t think we are there yet with Napier, but any suggestion that his seat is not hot after two inexcusable losing seasons is pure denial. And I will continue to shoot down the notion that Napier is entitled to a fourth season if he does not show remarkable improvement in the third. No one on here should casually assume that Napier gets a Year 4 no matter how badly Year 3 might go. And I sure hope he does not casually assume it, no matter what platitudes the Athletic Director felt obligated to say in public. Last year’s offseason preparation was unacceptable as evidenced by the poor, amateur showing against Utah. Napier needs to have learned something from that and get this team ready to stomp Miami’s guts out in the opening game. The whole idea of priming the fanbase to manage expectations for another losing season and that it won’t have the necessary professional consequences for Napier is a non-starter.
there’s no doubt about it. If you expect championships anytime soon, you’re about to be very disappointed. Lagway as an upperclassman might have a chance
Many teams are as good as we are because we stink. Thats the problem. It’s the fact 40-50 teams are better than us, thats the problem. If 10 teams were better than us that we couldn’t beat, then so be it.
Being a borderline top 25 as an expectation is very different than expecting championships. We just expect to not suck in year 3.
With the schedule we're facing, it's going to be tough. Billy Napier is working his tail off and every Gator is pulling for him, but he's been dealt a hard hand.
Guy is head coach of a dominant school in the most fertile recruiting region in the us in year 3. You are correct that this schedule is a tough hand but he has had time to “not suck.” He makes millions so “working hard” is table stakes. LFG BN!
It’ll be nice to be ranked after that schedule.. probably have to be 8-4. I don’t think there are 25 teams that could go 8-4 with that schedule.
Im focused on being a top 25 caliber team than ranked. To me a top 25 caliber team is 7 wins with our schedule
Of course. You can’t be a top 25 team without being competitive with other top 25 teams. Its the definition.
Couldn't have said it any better, my choice of words has been "Napier has a product problem" in that the team effort we see on game day is a product issue........Almost all of that falls right at Napier's feet. This team has more than enough talent to be 8-4 if coached properly, Napier's gona be in a hot seat, but in my eyes he's brought it all on to himself all by himself.....but to me 8-4 is doable
It's funny. I support Napier AND agree with this at the same time. I guess my faith is in his willingness to evolve and efforts so far to do so. That's an endorsement of him and an indictment of his shortcomings at the same time. Admittedly, much of the support is based on optimism and hope but it's at least better than watching Mullen trot out Grantham year after year, muschamp continue to run archaic offense or maclwein struggle to develop a qb room or offensive line
