It's not 'almost universal'. As for fathers and daughters, my daughter married a Mexican boy. I've never once had the thought 'gee, I sure wish my daughter had married a white boy'.

I don’t think he’s thought this through. Southern Montana and Western Wyoming are relatively liberal for those states too. Missoula, Bozeman or Jackson are not some kind of far-right utopia.

I’m glad to hear it. I married a Mexican girl myself. My experience was a little more varied, but generally speaking once you get to know someone as an individual the most visible artifact of their race becomes increasingly less important. And when I said “universal” I was speaking of universal among groups — meaning there is not a group out there I’m aware of that does not also have people who resent “outsiders” sniffing around their women — not “universal” in the sense of every individual in the world.

Go back far enough and we are all from Africa, where our species originated. A distinction needs to be made however with respect to how populations got here. Voluntarily or chained together in the holds of sailing ships.

You disagree because you think it’s a whites-only trait or because when anyone other than white people have such insular feelings it’s more justified?

Maybe I misread your point. I disagree on the breadth (or universality) of the trait. I agree that some people of all races/ethnicities feel that way.

That doesn't change the premise of my post one bit. You come to America to become an American. Why? Because you like what you see here, it looks better than the world you live in what ever it is. Why would you not want to fit in with the people here? If you are a visitor here from the middle east I have no problem with you walking down the street wearing a turban. If you are a middle easterner coming to this country as an immigrant I would suggest you lose the turban and at least try to learn and speak English.

Have to disagree with you here. Legal immigrants should not be expected to conform to Anglo-White traditions in order to maintain residency here in the U.S. Nor should they be required/expected to learn English. As they too are protected by Constitutional freedoms such as freedom of speech and freedom of religion. Part of our growth as a nation can be from different backgrounds, cultures, ideas and frankly...talent. We can maximize that by thwarting illegal immigration and focus on merit-based legal immigration mechanisms.

Borders. Arbitrary lines drawn in literal dirt. And some people think they are better because of which side they are standing on when drawing the line or because of which side they were born on, ...or the shade of their epidermis.

What a weird, sad way to live life.
