Biden should be close to the bottom, right with Trump. No president in the last 30 years should be in the top 10. Whoever made this list hasnt lived with the common folk in at least a generation.

Calvin Coolidge is my #1 president.

He’s the only American president who ever had a steady hand. That is to say he kept his hands to himself.

Simply beating Trump in 2020 is good enough for top third. Then there's all the stuff he passed in the first 2 years with a razor thin majority in congress. If he beats Trump again in 2024 he immediately goes to top 5 of all time.

He supported the most significant infrastructure legislation since the Interstate Highway Act under Eisenhower in 1956 as well the Chips and Science Act which will significantly increase the domestic production of advanced semiconductors just to name a couple of Biden's accomplishments and although Trump, MAGA Mike and the House Republicans are trying to undue what Biden has done he has increased respect for the US internationally after Trump's four years of kowtowing to Vladimir Putin.
    Some examples of Biden's accomplishments:

Reagan should be lower and should keep sinking. You can trace a lot of our current day problems right back to him.

Or even more so his supporters. He managed to convince them he won an election that he really lost to the point where they physically attacked the Capitol to prevent the certification of the results of the election even to the point where they may have lynched the sitting Vice President.

Again, when Lincoln was elected, half the nation …left the nation. Before he even did anything.

They were there before Trump, it was called the tea party. Maybe one should ask why people are splintering off the establishment from all angles instead of attacking the people. The problem is our government no longer represents it's citizens, regardless if you are a left leaning hippie or a bible thumping conservative. It's going to get real nasty in the next few months, lots of pent up anger.

    Bottom of a pint glass
Clinton was the last president to have a balanced budget. He should easily be top 7 or so imo. Well above Obama and any other pres of the last 30 years.

Those people are extremists and there is no reason why the government should be representative of them. What gets passed in congress, unless there is a rare supermajority, is mostly bipartisan compromises that represent what the vast majority of Americans can live with.

again, much of this is my point. Eisenhower accomplished all he did with a nearly balanced budget over his entire 8 years. Biden threw trillions of money we didn’t have. So in 10 20 or 30 years, what will be the bigger story? A temporary needed boost to infrastructure, or a broke USA that he largely helped facilitate?
On EVs, Musk gets more credit for that than anyone on the planet, the government had to catch up to him.
Microchips are a nice accomplishment, but they may be obsolete in a decade or two, we don’t know. Then if so it would be an after thought. And even if it stays important, it’s one private industry he helped. That’s hardly historical. Comparing that to true presidential accomplishments like some of those around him is, well overzealous.

And that’s before even talking about things like the Afghan withdrawal, again the deficit, immigration, and a dozen other things that could hurt his legacy.

I was a history major, these were the kinds of things we spent entire semesters analyzing. Biden’s legacy may in fact be solid in the end. I don’t know. But judging him now in such high regard is just silly. He’s just getting extra credit for not being Trump. Well, so were almost all of the other 44 guys. Giving a crap about democracy should be the minimum bar, not something he gets extra credit for.

complete side note, it’s fascinating to see a Wilson’s fall. Years ago he was considered top 5ish by many historians. But as more has become known about his racism, he’s steadily fallen. Like I said though. the entire western world’s foreign policy and idea world government of the last 100 years is largely based on his ideas. That’s a greater accomplishment by light years than anything Biden has done.
Anyway, liberals will continue to defend him and I made my point, so folks are free to disagree.

IMO, there is good debt & bad debt. Investment in infrastructure is - at least in theory - is good debt. I am sure the bill was chocked full of shit & that would be bad debt. I recently went from 0 to .5m in debt cuz I felt like an idiot not using leverage. Of course, in my case that is not on net.

Without getting back into the presidential ranking debate, there is clearly some truth here.
But when you take out debt, it’s under the assumption that it will make you more money long term. That makes it a (presumably) wise investment. You might assume you get a 15 percent lift in revenues and it’s paid for itself in 6 years, or whatever your math is.
Think about what the government needs to get back long term on that investment if it’s only getting 18 percent of the GDP though. If we spent 3 trillion and pay an average of 4 percent interest on that money, the government would need to collect 120 billion in additional revenues annually from the investment just to pay the interest. At 18 percent take, that would need to drive a 3 percent GDP growth. Again just for the interest. And that money isn’t going towards new projects at that point either. And the three trillion is driving up borrowing rates on the other 27 trillion we have borrowed, since that turns over often.
The example of Eisenhower was given above, he vetoed budgets regulatory for spending too much. No one does that anymore.
