Well this is a hypothetical, not reality. Dang asked “if you could…” Haley is also dead meat. It is a thought experiment.
Although she has virtually no chance of winning the nomination as long as she continues to campaign against Trump she could still hurt him among independents and the few remaining rational Republicans come the general election.
I don’t have confidence that Harris is up to the job. Are you comfortable with Harris making military decisions re Putin, Xi , NK, or Israel? She would be perceived as weak and they would test her. Also Harris would likely be a shitshow domestically because she just doesn’t seem to handle herself well in the public arena. Haley is a tad to bellicose in her hawkish rhetoric but I think they’d take her seriously. Haley may also be more serious about doing something about deficits, but that’s a big if.
I would insta-take Haley in the hand right now. Hell, I would insta-take a mystery candidate right now.
The dirty little not so secret is that to seriously attack deficits it's necessary to cut spending and increase revenue through higher taxes. Even a very modest increase in taxes can be political suicide and opposition to any tax increases an article of faith in the Republican Party. That being said Nikki Haley would be infinitely better than the Orange God. It would be nice if the Republican Party was once again led by a President like Eisenhower, Reagan or George H.W. Bush who values the role of American leadership rather than one who kowtows to a certain Russian dictator who has referred to the collapse of the Soviet Union as a great geopolitical catastrophe.
Harris is at least as competent as Haley and with Harris you don't get all the wingnut MAGA crap that Haley will surely give in to.
Exactly my pt. What I don't get is how you interpret that as endorsing the winner. As someone who rarely votes except on props, amendments, etc. I sure as hell ain't doing it to "endorse the winner"
Possibly. We just don’t know. Harris could be ok. There just isn’t any evidence of it. At least Haley has some experience on the world stage via the UN. She is a bit too conservative for my tastes but I don’t think she will be a tool for MAGA. At that point presumably Trump would be out of the picture but I’ve thought that before and was wrong.
The only issues you ever want to engage on are ridiculous ones like this - parsing words or technical details of what I’ve said I’m just not interested.
