Baseball vs. St. John's, Sun 2/18, Noon - CANCELLED

I would expect Sully to “piggyback” Peterson and Caglianone on this start/game.

 

Half mile from stadium and light rain for last 3 hours. Definitely more rain today than yesterday

 

Yes, more rain than yesterday and about 10 degrees colder with a North wind. 49 degrees at the house with steady light rain. Radar projection shows rain into early afternoon in the best case. Not sure how late they can start the game... but Noon start looks questionable.

 

Anybody have any updates?

 

So far here in Irvine: rain over night and this morning 1.5 inches temp 49, cloud cover prempting the satellite, if they play here it will be on my phone
feel for the Jonny's travel but they did get a W

 

Yes JJH, St John's travels from cold snowy Queens, NY to what they hope is sunny Florida to get three games in and mostly sit in their hotel for two days-- I know I would be frustrated. They did get the W over the #2 team in the country.

 

Game canceled.

That dang new contract has jinxed us.

 

Not the opening weekend everyone wanted for sure but it is what it is….

Weather will always be center stage for our Gators baseball.

On the baseball side of things—it was one game.
No need for wholesale changes or panic. The simple facts are the pitching wasn’t sharp (8 walks and 1 HBP) along with pitching in hitter’s counts vs pitching in pitcher’s counts—and the hitting could have been better.

Again, breathe in—breathe out, it’s baseball—it’s a marathon not a sprint.

 

IMO, with all of the key parts this team had to replace, a #2 ranking is crazy. This team will hopefully develop into that type of team but there will be some growing pains along the way.

 

See everyone in Jacksonville Tuesday night. Will be sunny and mid 50’s at game time.
